Clyde: If you get beat off the dribble, you can't add insult to injury by fouling. Bill: I had a difficult time seeing where the contact was. Clyde: You and me both. It's as if Clyde doesn't even know the words that are coming out of his own mouth. Can we have Calvin Murphy back already?
After Calderon hit a three Clyde: He's one of those players that can kill you from outside the arc, even though he is not shooting very well from out there. Clyde: 45%, guess he is shooting well.
Drexler: Jordan -- you know, Daryl Morey's got the #8 and #9 pick from the 0 -- the #11 draft from the 08-09 draft ... (completely unrelated to anything that was being discussed or happening in the game) [3 seconds of dead air] Worrell: ... Alright timeout taken by Houston. 4:48 left to play in the game.
Drexler: "Brad miller he's a 7 footer, a lot of people don't know, he's a big guy" he said it with 2.5secs to go in the 3rd. I had to rewind it three times to see if he really said that. Yeah Clyde you're right a lot of us don't know Miller is a big guy
Bill Worrell- The Rockets are within shouting distance of the Nuggets. Drexler- Can you hear me now? Bill- Yes...I can hear you (sigh) Drexler- Hehehe
Drexler- Kevin Martin is one of the most efficient shooters in the game per 48 minutes. Really Clyde? Does his efficiency change if you adjust it to per 48?
LOL! Drexler going all Serene Branson on the color commentary, yet still not pulled from YouTube. Insert that's racist meme.
I think last night Clyde said something along the lines of: "He's one of those players that'll just piss you off"
you guys give a lot of $#!t to Drex but Bill does the exactly same thing Drex does man. Bill repeats the same lines over and over and over again and the only reason ppl don't notice or care is cuz he's the play-by-play guy. They're expected to be repetitive. Bullard knows what's up. Listen carefully to Bullard calling the game with Bill in November and December. Earlier in the year, during preseason, Bill was destroying Drex pretty badly by saying Drex's one-liners for him and then laughing when Drex stumbled at Bill saying his line before him. He wanted to replace Drex with Bullard because Bullard is better obviously (which means less work for Bill) but also because Drex doesn't do the road games and Bill hates him for that. Bill hates the road. Bill did that for a couple weeks and that really pissed Bullard off. When Bullard came back to his first game, he let Bill have it and did the exact same thing Bill was doing to Drex, totally revealing how similar Bill was to Drex in terms of the repeated one-liners. The difference is though whereas Drex let himself get bullied by Bill, Bill has more confidence than that and tries to laugh it off. He's some times amused by it, that Bullard is able to copy him so well. By the time the 2nd half hits though, it starts to wear on Bill and he tries to ignore it, but it still bothers him as his voice wavers and cracks some times after the spot-on imitation.
drexler is a living legend. Haters need to go listen to and root for another team. I love clyde think he is great and anyone who says otherwise needs to check their rockets status. Not only that the guy is entertaining. Bullard for example or the jazz announcers and much of the nba announcers suck. worrell and clyde are the sh**
Lol, I remember this one but I think he said "can you hear me yet" and then corrected himself to can you hear me now.
Clyde is not entertaining and worst of all, not insightful. He's the broadcasting equivalent of silly putty. Bland, colorless, and can vaguely copy things around him. Any entertainment value clyde has lies in the mindblowingly absurd metaphors and atrocious commentary he makes. Laughing AT HIM. Bill is a staple of Houston sports broadcasting, and does everything in his power to keep Clyde speaking some form of the English language.
Several times now Drexler has suggested that Terrence Williams must have had a real attitude problem in Jersey, Last Night: "I mean... If you can't get along with Avery Johnson, then there is a problem. He is one of the nicest people in the world." Earlier This Year: "When you can't get along with a great players coach like Avery Johnson, then there is a serious problem." Players Coach???? Didn't the whole Mavs team go to Cuban a few years ago with a "get rid of the 'little general' or we are all walking ultimatum?" The word is that he was so overbearing that the players couldn't take it. There are stories that he was even trying to dictate their private lives to a certain extent. Apparently a few players didn't have enough Jesus for his taste. Clyde is oblivious to how clueless he truly is... Wait a minute... I guess that is a bit redundant. You know, if he's oblivious then of course he's clue... Nevermind. He is definitely something.
My favorite is when Bill tries to set him up for a bit of color commentary and he only responds with...I Like It. Example: Bill: So Clyde, what do you think about the way Kevin Martin has been scoring the past five games. Clyde: I like it And he always says it with the exact same goofy inflection/cadence (like all of his go-to phrases).
During the Dallas game, talking about Peja... Bill: "He's a streak shooter..." Clyde: "HE'S A STREAKER!" I'm sure Bill was shaking his head.
