Personally, I'm fascinated by the Rocket's energy level, their intensity, and their willingness to compete last night against Denver. I would like to remain optimistic and see our beloved Rockets slipping into the 7th or 8th spot in the playoffs. It looks like there could be a good chance of us slipping in because of the following factors. -Sloan's resignation and Utah Jazz's recent struggles -Carmelo's potential departure and their recent struggles. -Portland's upcoming hectic schedule (Below) -Our remaining games have few back-to-backs and are to be played against a vast number of sub .500 teams. How do you guys feel about this? To bad Portand has been beating good teams recently..aldredge has been in god mode in the absence of roy..just hope Roy comes back soon to mess up their chemistry..how's Memphis and phoenix schedule looking??
Portland this year is what the Rockets were last year, we aren't gonna catch them. I can however see us beating PHO, MEM, and DEN to get 8th seed.
It would require the Rockets to play a notch above where they've been playing the entire season. It's hard to picture that happening.
Playoffs? Seriously? This team at best is a 40 win team. Only way we should be thinking playoffs is if we can make a couple trades.
NO playoffs accept it!! Just b/c they get hot from three yesterday, doesn't mean they are playoff bound.... sheesh!!
It's not as far fetched as many seem to believe. It's really a six team race for the last three playoff spots. Denver could still fall out of a playoff spot, especially if they were to trade Carmelo. The Blazers have one of the hardest remaining schedules and are rumored to be shopping both Andre Miller and Marcus Camby for younger pieces. The Jazz are struggeling and might look to cut cost before the trade deadline. The Suns are starting to play better and the Grizzlies are one of the hottest teams right now. The Rockets have the third easiest remaining schedule. Both Hollinger and Basketball-Reference however project the Rockets not making the playoffs (#9, #10). We shall see.
Well, there is hope, but we better make most of it. Meaning, winning every single game we are suppose to win and surprise some teams. Hope for a trade that makes us more consistent and better. I don't think this same team has consistency to go on a roll. We need a change. As far as schedules are concerned, we have easiest schedule compared to any other competing (Portland, Utah, Denver, Memphis, Phoenix) Here are some calculations: .500 or + Teams Portland = 18 Phoenix = 17 Utah = 16 Denver = 16 Memphis = 16 Houston = 12 Road Games Phoenix = 16 Utah = 15 Denver = 14 Houston = 12 Memphis = 11 Portland = 11 Road Games Opponents winning % Memphis = 0.592 [Tough] Portland = 0.584 Denver = 0.557 Utah = 0.516 Phoenix = 0.514 Houston = 0.428 [Really good for us] Total Games Opponents winning % Portland =0.565 Memphis = 0.537 Phoenix = 0.529 Denver = 0.518 Utah = 0.513 Houston = 0.488 Back to Backs Portland = 7 Phoenix = 6 Houston = 6 Memphis = 5 Utah = 5 Denver = 4 Games against .600 or more (Elite teams) Portland: 13 games (7 home to 6 road) Phoenix: 12 games (6 home to 6 road) Denver: 10 games (4 home to 6 road) Utah: 8 games (3 home to 5 road) Memphis: 8 games (3 home to 5 road) Houston: 6 games (5 home to 1 road) [WOW]!! Again, We got a chance but only if we can pull something in the trade. I don't see this team making the best of of the opportunity and even if they do, I don't see them having a chance in playoffs.
i for one am down with some positive energy! i say we get to the play off, squeezing by memphis and phoenix and knocking off Denver.
I can definitely see it happen. Just to get bounced out of the first round. I can see us staying in B-Ball Purgatory for the next 10 years. So great to be a Rox Fan. Too crappy to get passed the first round (that's if we can even make it to the playoffs), and too good to get a decent pick.
15-12 at home and crappy road record doesn't give me much confidence even if we have an easier closing schedule. Jazz and Nuggets may fall out but Suns and Griz are playing MUCH better ball then the Rox.
