Saw this live.. I watched Nani's flick the ball in and the ball seemed to float in the air for an extra second or two and then I just saw Rooney rise up and Tae Kwon Do kick the ball into the net like he was Guile from Street Fighter.

I was like :grin: :grin: :grin:

 

Overstatement?

That's one of the most beautiful strikes you'll ever witness, and is easily Rooney's finest goal in red. Consider the circumstances, as well... tied with bitter rival and fellow top-3 Premier League squad Man City approaching the 80th min.

He iced the match with a bicycle kick upper 90, and absolutely froze the keeper. Insane.

I was watching the game on Saturday. Just a fantastic goal and definitely a Goal of the Year candidate.

 

It was an amazing goal. He is a good player.

 

great goal, but the strike on the ball was okay,
he got more shin than foot on the ball, the strike on the ball in the drogba goal
now that was a strike, 34 yards out and froze the keeper
rooney froze the keeper from 8 yards out
i'm not discounting the goal one bit
i'm just saying that for the announcer to say he'll never strike a better ball is not the same as saying. he'll never score a better goal

 

Superb by goal by Drogba, but Essien's rip against Arsenal is still the most brilliant strike I've ever witnessed on the part of Chelsea:

Your right, shooting the ball above the keep from 30 yards out is no big deal.

ESSIEN's GOAL was also the goalie's fault. Reacted LATE. I could have stopped that.

One of the best goal by bicycle kick I've ever seen is that from Mark Huges just a couple steps inside the penalty area.

Saw it live in tv and was absolutely stunned. I'm not MU fan but I was rooting for them against City, a team of mercenaries that I truly hate.
