Who knows how many people FDA policies kill each year? It would be a very hard thing to calculate. As hard as calculating how many people would die if the FDA didn't exist. I think the number is quite low, but am not sure. Please tell me how many?
I just looked at your first link. There are no banned foods, just banned food ADDITIVES. From your link: Seems like they are doing a good job of protecting the general welfare and you are doing a bad job of making your case.
It's good to be specific. The person I replied to wanted to be shown examples of ban foods. So I showed him. The case I made was that it goes against the constitution. You haven't dis-proven this by misinterpreting the "general welfare" clause. Like I told Major, if you interpret the clause that way then the government can do anything and thus there would be no point for the rest of the constitution. The federal government could make everyone exercise every morning and say it's for the "general welfare", by your understanding.

You showed nothing. Look... Can we still eat fruit? Yes. Can we still eat Borax-covered fruit? Yes. You are free to coat your fruit in Borax and eat it if you wish (I hope you have health insurance if you do), however, producers are not free to market Borax-covered fruit. The fact that Borax-covered fruit is no longer available at my grocery store does not mean I can't buy fruit when and where I wish.
It means you can't buy borax covered food. You can't ban something as broad as fruit cause then you would have to define fruit. Since defining fruit would be very difficult, they do it by banning specific chemicals. This is the method governments use to ban food. For example the article linked above about caffeinated alcoholic beverages (you know the one you ignored), they do it by banning a specific chemical (no caffeine with alcohol).

The article is from November and mentions the FDA's desire to do so, so you are safe since it hasn't gone through yet. I was proving the point that the FDA is in the business of banning foods (I am amazed I have to explain this to so many people on this board). Such as their attempts to ban any product containing caffeine and alcohol.
