I have been Watching this too it is an odd show but i like it so far plus i am interesting in his OVERALL mystery him solving the issue that got him in prisoned Rocket River
I watch a lot of shows, so basically almost everything already mentioned: Life Journeyman Pushing Daisies The Big Bang Theory Private Practice Cavemen Bionic Woman Chuck Reaper What can I say, I am addicted to TV.
Pushing Daisies has surprised me with how charming and funny it is. Clever writing + Alan Dale's narration + Kristen Chenoweth singing = a lot of fun. Plus there's a surprisingly large amount a female cleavage on the show. Always a plus.
I'm loving Cavemen. I don't get to watch much TV, so it's Prison Break, Heroes, Cavemen, South Park, sometimes My Name is Earl and the Office.
Of all the new sitcoms, I like Back To You the best. It somehow manages to retain a traditional sitcom formula and yet not be unboring/stale at the same time. Kelsey Grammer's writing is pretty funny and witty ... it's nice to have a 30 minute show that keeps you laughing just like the good old times.
I second Boston Legal. Gotta love Denny Crane! Californication on SHOWTIME is pretty good too. Weeds is also outstanding, not a new show, hilarious none the less.
I know what you mean...I went into that show expecting to hate it for how formulaic it looked...but that's exactly what it was going for and it works. Kelsey Grammar still has it. And of course, having Fred Willard on it playing virtually the same character as Ed Harkin from Anchorman helps out alot too. I'll be keeping tabs on that one. Other good shows of the new season: Chuck Pushing Daisies Dirty Sexy Money (can't believe more people haven't mentioned this show - it's both funny and highly entertaining)
Same thing happened to me - the funniest part was when that one caveman told the other that if he hadn't given that chick the ole heisman that the other wouldnt be doing the ole touchdown dance. And then when the third one asked about a friend for him the one said he was about to "cave it up". Hillarious scene. you can watch both episodes here http://video.aol.com/video-category/cavemen/102900
I am watching Big Bang but not because I think it is funny...I actually find it pretty bad. But Jim Parsons is one of the leads and he went to HS with the wife so we watch it. At least he is doing well within a crappy show, though. She also went to school with "Crab Man" from My Name is Earl.
Reaper's not too bad but I can't see it holding my interest after 5 or 8 episodes if there isn't more to it. Now I know why the actress who played Canadace in Heroes didn't make a return.
I think "Life" and "Pushing Daisies" are the two best new shows. The pilot episode of "Life" was really good, but it has slipped a bit. I feel the opposite about "Pushing Daisies", that show seems to get better with every episode. "Chuck" is ok, but I think I only watch it because Heroes comes on right after it. "Californication" is also very good. It works very well in tandem with "Weeds". I thought the pilot was not very good, but the second show is where it seemed to get it's legs. That 16 year old, man is she a b!tch.
I'm glad to hear so many people like Big Bang Theory. Jim Parsons is a good friend and an old colleague of mine (I directed him in ten or so plays) and he deserves all of his recent success. rimbaud: Does your wife know Greg Stanley or Sarah Mitchell? They went to HS with Jim too and I worked with them a lot as well.
That's a show i totally forgot to mention, me and the wife enjoy it, simple throwback sitcom. Think it can really hit it's stride in the future.
Yeah, she has been telling me for years he deserved success...that his performance in Noises Off in HS was just as good as any in the movie version. I read a review of the show in the SF Chronicle (I think) that basically trashed the show but said JP is an obvious talent. I think that is the best possible scenario for him - even if the show sucks (it mostly does), he can get recognition. I will ask her about the other two. She definitely knew Jim better than Eddie Steeples (Crab Man) so it is possible.
He's a tremendous stage actor. TV and movies really don't do him justice, though he's great in those as well. He's also just about the nicest guy I've ever known and a huge Rockets fan. We used to watch games together all the time when he lived in Houston.
She did know them but not as well as she knew Jim. Her biggest memory of Greg was him drinking a whole bottle of Strawberry Hill and running around some bayou. Sarah she just said was reall sarcastic.
namedropping here but I was in the same graduating class as Sarah, Greg, and Jim at Klein Oak. Greg once called me a f ag lol
