Could be a direct result of inconsistent minutes. RA has had a tough job finding a consistent rotation, resulting in inconsistent play IMO.

I think Lee's the type of player that could be an important part of a team vying for a championship. I could see him in that Mario Elie type of role. I just don't see him being here long enough too accomplish that as a Rocket.

I'm tired of getting projects and not getting timed and tested NBA players on this team. I swear Morey shops at thrift stores.

Asik has way more trade value than Lee does. There is absolutely no logical reason at all for Chicago to make such a trade straight up.

No I don't like it, because Lee is a much better player.

The Bulls are interested in an upgrade at shooting guard, but they have no interest in trading center Omer Asik to Houston for guard Courtney Lee. This possibility was suggested in the Houston Chronicle. With Yao Ming’s career possibly over, the Rockets have a clear need for another center. But the Bulls like Asik’s potential too much to give him up in this sort of deal, a league source confirmed.

Not familiar with any MAJOR injuries but maybe something to look at.

On his offense, to be honest, there isn't much. He has a nice hook and is pretty tough under the basket but his defense is much more advanced then his "O". I will say that he seems, like others have pointed out, VERY willing to improve his game, hustles and has a nice BBIQ. Another thing I notice about his offense, he is pretty decisive with his moves. JHill, for instance, still doesn't seem decisive or confident in his offensive moves, this kid does seem like he knows what he's doing but just isn't very good at it, YET.

Make no mistake, this would be simply be a sub-move. Morey probably wasn't shopping CLee instead probably got a call from the Bulls because he is EXACTLY what they need now and long-term. I think this is the first of atleast two moves by the deadline and it won't be CLee for Asik, pick(s) will come along. No way is this the BIG move but it would be for next year and beyond, basically taking from a strength to add to a weakness.

Truth be told, I'd rather make a run at Cole Aldrich or Hassan Whiteside than Omer Asik...

I think both Whiteside and Aldrich, hold more potential than Asik...

Come to find out, the Bulls didn't like the idea either. They were only looking to trade a draft pick for Lee instead.

    eff Asik...If they're gonna make a deal using C.Lee...

let's just flip C.Lee for Robin Lopez, way more upside and he can actually score...

But the suns haven't been trying to get Lee all season, plus the pick is what we should be looking at as much if not MORE then the player cuz that pick could net us a player much better then any of them if the bobcats ship out Wallace and Jackson by next season.

    Tidbits from Sam Smith's mailbag:

    http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/asksam_110211.html

Sam: Absolutely, positively not. For one thing, Thibs never plays Asik with Noah. I'd like to see it, but he did it some in preseason and then not again. What the playoffs show and what even a game against Portland showed is you need size. Yes, Taj was a bit small to deal with Aldridge. But Boozer isn't much defending the pick and roll or blocking shots. With someone like that, you need someone behind him so he always knows you can take him out. The Bulls will need Taj for some late game defensive replacement situations until they can fortify that position. And if you trade so called big for small, it better be an awfully good small, and Mayo isn't that. Plus, he's undersized at two. That would be a disastrous move in my view. Likewise, there was a report the Rockets might be interested in Asik for Courtney Lee. Again, are you nuts! Look, I'd love to have Lee and think he fits well as a big, defensive shooting guard who can make threes. But you don't give up an active, young seven footer for a shooting guard who is nowhere near an All-Star. And remember Kurt Thomas is 38. Sure, he looks good, but he's here on a one year minimum deal. Though I am quite sure the Bulls never, ever, ever told Houston they'd trade Asik for Lee. The [Rockets] likely called and said what about Asik for Lee and the Bulls said what about Martin for Bogans. Same chance. You don't trade young, developing, athletic seven footers for backup shooting guards, though I believe Lee would be a good starter for the Bulls.

    . . . .

First off, this is in no way an overreaction to these last couple of losses, however, Coach Thibs has some tendencies that worry me a bit. In the Portland game he played Asik for roughly half the amount of time as Kurt Thomas while Asik was vastly out producing him. Same goes with Korver as he came out red hot and our team seems to have no understanding of the concept of feeding the hot hand. I find it hard to believe that the assistant coaches aren't in his ear trying to get the best performers out there. With that said, I understand his favoring of veterans, but over the course of a season you sometimes need to swallow your pride and realize that others give you a better chance to win then your regulars.

    Kevin Loughlin

Sam: He has been reluctant to go to Asik, though to his credit he saw it in the Utah game and Asik's play in the second half was crucial to the win. No, he isn't comfortable with Asik, but he does play him and you have to hope he will continue to do so when Noah returns. Likewise with Korver, as I've written many times, I think he needs more shots. But Kyle is such an unselfish guy and tries to do the exact right thing every time—rarely do you encounter such guilt among NBA player—that he tries to be too perfect sometimes and looks for teammates too much. He needs to let it fly more as well. But let's remember this is Thibs' first season with these guys and there is an imbalance in the roster with the lack of offense and sometimes, especially with Asik, he gets caught worrying whether there is enough offense on the floor and thus taking Asik out. Plus Thibs' natural tendency is to defer to the defensive side, which is not Korver's strength, though he is decent, works at it and, to me, does a good enough job to earn more minutes.

    . . . .

So I read a rumor that the Bulls and Rockets are discussing a Lee for Asik swap. Please tell me the Bulls realize how rare and valuable a commodity Asik is and aren't willing to do this.

    Sam Rosen

Sam: They are not discussing any such swap. As I recall, that item said the Rockets are interested in Asik. Fine. The Bulls are interested in Dwight Howard, I assume. To reiterate, you don't trade bigs when you don't have enough for smalls, and especially one not starting, though I like Lee a lot and believe he would be a good starter. But size wins in the playoffs, as the Lakers and Celtics know. The Warriors load up on guards.

WTf Sam Smith is off his head...You think we're killing your mom's t*** with an Lee for Asik swap? Well too bad!!! We'd accept nothing less than Derrick Rose for Lee.

Tell Smith to stop thinking other teams is going to offer their best players to beg for Chicago's scrubs..

Dude thinks Asik is the next Dwight Howard the way he's talking. Asik might not even develop into a decent starting center, whereas I could see Lee doing really well as a starter next to Rose.

And Asik for Lee is NO WAY as ridiculous of a proposal as Bogans for Martin. Also, Taj + late 1st rounder is overpaying Memphis for Mayo?? Lmao. So Taj and Asik are hereby untouchable, and of course Rose, Noah, and Deng are as well. That leaves your choice of trash for a solid starting 2 guard...Good luck, Bulls!

I'm pretty sure both GM's are trying to rip off the other... We have no rush to get a player.. We have no shot at contending this year maybe grabbing that 8th spot but no way can we contend so we either get a deal we like or meh.

Now the Bulls can so lets say they lose against SA and NO in the next week and they decide their weakness is that SG spot and they really feel they have a shot at upsetting Boston or Miami if they get Lee, which I think is possible, they'd be stupid not to over value Lee a little. Management will do anything to grab another ring.

He called Courtney Lee a backup shooting guard? Ouch. The man has started on every team he's been on before getting stuck behind quasi all-star Kevin Martin.
