Here's a photo of one of Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo's old bands. I believe Rivers is in the middle: Here's a photo of their ex-bass player Matt Sharp from '86: If you look in the jacket of Weezer's debut album, there's a poster of Quiet Riot on the wall in one of the pictures. They also mention KISS in one of their songs "In the Garage". In addition, the new Weezer album is a bit of a nod to Arena Rock, if I do say so myself. I like Weezer. These pics are all from Metal Sludge. You'd be surprised at how many "hip" bands of today have a glam rock past.
that is great stuff!! their METAL past has been revealed! in regards to the top picture--- "OK, everybody fold your arms and let's get this picture taken!" look at their W logo! =w= Very Van Halen, no? The METAL surfaces! thanks for the link...
I've never seen that logo anywhere but this site (of course, I don't usually look at any Weezer fan sites or anything). But it's easy to tell that they want to be arena rockers. They have a shirt out that is a rip of a Judas Priest logo, that says "American Rock" on it, or something to that effect. Listen to some songs on "Maladroit", like "American Gigolo", "Dope Nose", and especially "Take Control" and "Fall Together" -- pure arena rock. My current favorite is "Love Explosion".
"This should cheer you up for sure See I've got your old I.D. And you're all dressed up like the Cure" Ben Folds Five, "Battle of Who Could Care Less"
Methinks he doth protest too much... ...admit it! When you're not on a basketball forum, you're cruising Weezer fan sites under the monocker Weezerboi382.
Thanks for the link. Some of the images are pretty priceless. It's hard to believe how ridiculous 80s hair bands look now. My personal favorite is Pantera.
it's on the drummers bass drum, hand drawn. I think you can see it in the liner notes of the blue album.
