I'm kind of glad that Brooks walked out. At least it forced a dialogue between him and the coaches and/or management. His body language has sucked for a while and there's no way you can truly focus on improving your job performance when you're pissed at your bosses. Either A) they will make nice, turn the page, and he can get on track with finding his rhythm again or B) Aaron will throw a fit and the decision to bench or trade him becomes an easy one. Either way, they reach a turning point that is desperately needed in light of his poor post-injury play.
1 game was fair and now will AB get any pt? I hope AB sits his first game back but knowing RA, AB will back playing tonight.
I agree that 1 game is sufficient for what is hopefully an isolated incident. I also think he should be forced to earn not necessarily his spot in the rotation, but his minutes back. We will see if this gets his attention. While this is a very childish act, his passion and desire to be on the court and produce give me a very little bit of cause for hope. Hopefully this was more a show of frustration with himself than with the coach. Let's hope he can turn this negative into a positive lesson.
Yes and no. No, he shouldn't be suspended or completely benched. Yes, he should receive less minutes than Ish Smith until such time as he is playing better than Ish Smith. That really should be true whether or not he threw a hissy fit.
I love how people can justify the selfish actions of a Brooks and cuddle him while some of those same posters were all over T-mac. He walked out on his team folks!!!
Most logical reply... I think 1 game was fair or if tonight's game was in minnesota instead of Houston then a 2 game (just so he would be away from the team for the quick road trip) And its true Adelman did give him several chances to prove himself, maybe even cost the team a few wins, but Aaron did not make the most of it. I dont know whether it was his injury (if it was there was no need to rush back) or if he just had a different mindset and was forcing the issue one too many times. Aaron will have to deal with his teammates though which will be far harder to do than having to deal with his coach. I would not be surprised if Ish Smith comes out of the locker room and says "we will ISO you!" If he will not get the benefit of the doubt anymore, GOOD. He is going to have to re-earn his minutes by playing the right way and better. That will only help the team and more importantly himself and his own confidence.
I'm with you. I think he should lose his spot in the rotation until he proves, in Adelman's eyes, that he's playing for the team and not for himself. A one game suspension and return to normal minutes (if it happens) just seems like a slap on the wrist to me. However, we appear to be in the ClutchFans minority. That's ok -- I've been a minority all my life, I'm used to it!
it may have been 1 game officially but if Adelman chooses he will just be suspended indefinitely by not playing. The only reason why I wouldnt want that is that he will still be with the team in the lockeroom/bench etc and as the old saying goes "Misery loves company" I do not want that sort of attitude just lingering around this team, not while it goes through the most important stretch of its season.
You forgot the option for "Yes, should have been executed in public square." All kidding aside, I think his punishment was just about right.
IMHO, the 1 game suspension is just a part of his total punishment which includes the following: exile to the far end of the bench next to T-Will and an eventual trade to Minnesota/Sacramento/any team whos, simply put, turrible.
No one is cuddling Brooks. This is his first incident and he has other wise had a good attitude. I agree I'm not happy at all with this walking out bit, but this one incident doesn't put him on T-mac's level. Tracy had a history of screw ups and putting his foot in his mouth, talking big and not showing up.
I always respect your posts, but do really think that Brook's defense or decision making is any worse this year? Last year it took the rest of the League about two thirds of the season to figure out how to defense us. We played better team defense, but didn't look so much at indiviual defense until everyone started jumping on K-Mart this year. I think Brook's made about the same bad decisions last year...was just able to dribble better and hit his shot.
