Considering one of these two could factor into the Rockets future .....which one would you rather have? I say Perkins as he not only would give us almost everything our interior defense is lacking, but is a better than average starting 5 in this league as is. Kendrick is leaving his role with the Celtics and is going to be given more freedom/responsibility. Of course he'd work with CD and possibly Dream too. There is some upside here I think. For 10 million, I'd take Kendrick over Nene anyday and always.
Perkins will never be what Nene is on offense. Nene will never be what Perkins is on defense. Which one do we need more? Perkins.
Perkins is younger, stronger, better defender, so-so offensive player, and from Beaumont. Give me him 10/10
Nene is actually a better defender then u guys are giving him credit for...plus he pretty good offensivly..so I'd take nene over Perkins..Perkins would just foul out of games and his anger issues would get us to many technicals fouls..so nene over Perkins any day...
I posted this on the NBA Dish forum: How about something along the lines of a Martin + patterson for Allen + Perkins? Lets face it, Boston's big 3 is getting old. Martin would bring some much needed youth and fit right in with Rondo in the back court. They would lose some D, but gain scoring and youth. From Rockets perspective, salaries for Martin and Allen are identical (if Allen does not opt to pick up player option, it could save us $10 mil). Martin leaving would hurt our offense, no doubt, but short term, Allen could give us at least 15 ppg imo. But we get that big, defensive anchor. Perkins is a stud defender. We could then also do other moves like go after a Granger or Nene, as we would have all our other assets in place.
My friends keep telling me Kendrick has a drinking problem. They haven't seen him doing it but they say he has too much yellow in his eyes, which is indicator of too much alcohol in system. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know. All I know is he is one big ugly animal in the paint.
Give me Perkins. This team needs to have some thug to it. Too many nice guys. Also the fact that he is from so close to Houston makes me want him more. Now if only we could get Stephen Jackson...
Perkins is a better shot-blocker, a better rebounder, a better defender. Nene is better on the offensive side of the ball and has comparable skills as a defender. Perkins will end up at $8 mil per year while Nene figures to get around $10. Perkins is two years younger. I'll take Perkins
Bro, that would be a nice team. Let's hope we find a way for that to materialize. I do think that if we threw $8 mil at Perkins and made an all out push, we could sign him this offseason. Now if we can just turn Brooks and scrubs into Granger.
Are we looking to become title contenders or playoff bound....because the players available wont put us in the top 3 in the WC....I wouldnt touch neither one...either way we wont be ready...We should stand pat and hope for Deron Williams or Dwight Howard ....One more season of mediocrity wont kill us...Houston Sports oozes mediocrity...It keeps excited for the future...We love upside, prospects, and big trades/FA acquisitions...
That would be a horrible deal for us. At this point I dont think I would even do Scola for Bynum straight up
Dwight Howard is staying with the Magic. The camaraderie they have in Orlando is something a lot of teams lack. What makes you think a "mediocre" Rockets team could attract big name free agents like Deron Williams? Are you suggesting a trade with Utah? They would trade us Kirilenko, but they would rather let Williams walk before they sent him to a conference rival.
