    from the Denver Post

"I have loved being chairman, but I'm tired of the nuts who have no grasp of what the state party's role is,"

Here is the memo Wadham sent this afternoon to members of the Colorado Republican State Central Committee:

Happens in both parties, all the time, after every single election.

Yeah! Like firing Michael Steele after he guided the party to landslide victories.

    Happens all the time.

I've heard the same sentiment expressed by friends of mine who are part of the MN Republican party organization.

Alot of Republicans I've talked to feel the same way. It used to be the GOP symbolized small government, neutrality in foreign policy, and lower taxes. Now it's ethier about Christianinzing the world through conquest or Über-liberaltarianisn and crazy conspiracies.

I'm really surprised we are not seeing more of this conversation going on in the republican party. It’s the, pardon the pun, pink elephant in the room. No one serious seems to want to address the fact that there is a major fight over the direction of the party and it seems the crazies are winning.

Not a good sign for a national party

It's usually the GOP politicians who resign after being outed.

"However, I have tired of those who are obsessed with seeing conspiracies around every corner and who have terribly misguided notions of what the role of the state party is while saying “uniting conservatives” is all that is needed to win competitive races across the state."

This is what I feel is somehow becoming more prevalent. No matter what the topic is there is someone behind it all apparently. Whether it's unions, atheists, socialists, banksters, communists, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Fannie, Freddie, there apparently is always some group in the background pulling the strings.

I picked up and reread Black Like Me last week and it was interesting to recall that racists would call whites who stood up for civil rights commies or communists. I am not trying to draw a parallel to the current president. Just trying to point out how long this derogatory and scare tactic has been used and then repackaged and used again to address something else.

I mean seriously for @#$ sake how long are we allowed to say any course of action whether it's civil rights or a public healthcare option is the work of communists seeking to undermine this country?

After 60 years is the US still stupid enough to buy into scare tactic baseless rhetoric?

Unfortunately, it has become clear during the last two years that the answer to this is definitely 'yes.'

Awww...it's not fair to pick on the US.

Uneducated people whipped into supporting political ideas that are against their interests is unfortunately, the history of mankind. Time might render one flavor of moral panic obsolete, but rest assured a new one will always be waiting in the wings to scare "good decent law-abiding folks" into supporting some kind of authoritarianism.
