    DO WANT

As a Dead Space fan, I'd definitely save up the money to get one of these things, especially after the crap that came with the CE version of the game.

Played a little more of Chapter 10 last night on Survivalist setting. I'm not sure I've never wanted to play a game over again before even beating it the first time, but that is definitely the case here. I love strategizing with the detonator mines.

Damn Amazon got me with their sale. The game should arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to it with all the praise it's gotten.

So what's your favorite weapon? 1st game it was all about the force gun. I don't know what I would of done without my ripper.

Just bought through Amazon, came in Friday, and I'm already on chapter 6. I'm playing on survival mode, and it is very addicting.

Part 2 is faster, smoother, and just better in every way than 1. They've taken a lot of the good elements from other games like Res Evil, BioShock, and even Batman. Not saying this game is better than any of these, but it is pretty darn good.

Also, some of the parts that I dreaded in 1 have been taken out or edited in 2. The zero gravity parts in 1 were long, and sometimes just down right annoying. In 2, they're shorter (so far), and smoother. Also, the comet shootout, though enjoyable, was excruciating in 1 (I actually almost quit the game at that part but luckily got past it) is not in part 2 (yet) either. And the overall speed of the game is much faster as well.

The best thing I love about this game and part 1 are the weapons. The plasma cutter is man's best friend, the line gun comes in handy for bigger, badder, foes, and the Ripper helps you survive up close attackers. I'm looking forward to some of the other weapons I shall acquire soon as well. All in all, an awesome game, glad I bought it.

I would go as far as to say that it's better than the latest releases of all the franchises you mentioned. Then again, I'm more a fan of space/alien themes than zombie/mutant-people or superheroes.

Having beaten the game over the weekend, and making it back to Chapter 8 on Zealot, I'd say one of the greatest strengths of this game is the myriad of ways you can kill enemies. I went through the first time using the plasma cutter, line gun, ripper, and detonator. Never even touched another weapon aside from the rivet gun, which sucked. On this second play through, I'm using almost a completely different set of guns (pulse rifle, force gun, javelin, detonator) and it almost feels like a new experience. Sort of like when Resident Evil offered the mode where items and enemies were placed randomly.

I could even go through a third time using the flamethrower, seeker rifle, and contact beam along with either the plasma cutter or pulse rifle for yet another unique experience.

Bottom line is that this game is freaking sweet.

Only thing about using different guns in a 2nd run through is you have upgrade all of them from scratch! I can't imagine not using my pimped up plasma cutter, or the insane width line gun if I play it again on an even harder setting....but yea, the hardest decisions in the game are which weapons to keep etc, there are so many good ones!

One new weapon I like so far is the javelin gun. Initially I didn't know wtf it did...then I actually read the instructions about R2, and now I can't wait to electrify and explode some bad mofos !

Going to start on Zealot mode sometime this week. I've got fully upgraded plasma cutter, line gun, contact gun, javelin gun, pulse rifle, and ripper, so I don't think I'll have to worry too much about firepower. I wasn't too sure about the seeker rifle (who needs a longer distance weapon in this game right?) but it's actually a lot of fun to use, as long as you're fairly quick.

You can spend 5,000 credits to respec a weapon (remove all the nodes you've used on it), in order to turn around use those nodes to mod the hell out of a different weapon. And 5,000 credits is not much at all.

aah, didn't know that...I normally don't replay games...may have to do that with this one perhaps...it'll be tough though, I have Mass Effect 2 sitting at home as well, and Kill Zone 3 comes out in a week (part 2 is one of my favorite games on the ps3)....good year for the PS3 for sure :)

I am so pissed right now and needed some place to vent.

For whatever insane reason, I decided to torture myself by attempting Hardcore mode. For those who aren't aware, Hardcore mode is basically the same difficulty as Zealot (the highest 'normal' difficulty level) but with the lovely caveat that you get only 3 saves for the entire game - with no checkpoint respawns. If your last save was 6 chapters back, for example, well that's too bad.

Anyway, I've literally been within 10 minutes of beating the game twice tonight, and I died both times. The first was on the part where you have to stick a needle in Isaac's eye (I missed like an idiot). Then the second time (after replaying all the way from Chapter 11 again - in about 3 hours or so), I died because...well, I honestly have no idea. I was in a zero G area JUST before the final stretch of the chase scene before the final battle, and out of nowhere Isaac just screamed and flew backwards.

I'm surprised I haven't put my foot through my TV yet with this kind of bull****.

    ****!

Ouch! Feel your pain, especially after dying at the needle in the eye sequence. Just be patient. You'll get it.

Yeah man, I know what you mean. My saves were at the solar array, right after the Ishimura, and right before the eye machine. The PC version is worse by comparison because they devs still haven't fixed the hardcore mode unlocks. The only way you can get the rewards is by playing it all in one sitting (or at least leaving the game on for later). If you save and quit the game, something breaks and nothing will unlock at the end.

I think the Zealot difficulty reward for PC is still broken too.

Yeah, I watched a guy on YouTube do a Hardcore play through on PC and he talked about the issues. Not that I'm doing this just to get the secret weapon, but if I knew that people on another platform were getting it and I wasn't, that would turn me off from Hardcore altogether...just the principle of it, you know?

Anyway, I'm mostly pissed about the second death from last night since I don't know why it happened. Plus the fact that I had highly upgraded my Contact Beam, which makes the final run a cakewalk. Had I not died where I did, I am 99% sure I would have breezed through to the end.

After beating hardcore and unlocking the secret weapon, I decided to take it for a spin.

Ended up beating the whole game again.
