I had Beats by Dre in-ear's for the past few years until last night when my dog got to them and completely destroyed them. I'm looking for a new pair of in-ear headphones but I don't feel like dropping $150 for more Beats. Can anyone recommend a pair under $100? I was looking at the Klipsch S4, anyone have those?
Check out this thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.com/showthread.php?t=193918 I was reading it this weekend. Great recommendations. It helped me settle on the Klipsch IMAGE S4i. They're the Klipsch IMAGE S4 with a Mic. Same price on Amazon right now. Hope this helps.
Judging by your brand of ear buds, I'm guessing your breed of dog is a . . . . . Spoiler Wait for it . . . Spoiler . . . pit bull Spoiler amirite?
I don't understand how people can spend that much for some earphones... And then we complain that the 'economy is bad'?? I mean, I can see maybe 50 or 60 bucks... but... $150? Earphones? Really?
I have the Klipsch S2 I use with my iPhone 3GS. They are not going to be as good as the S4 obviously. They are cheaper and have the smaller drivers (thus, smaller ear buds). The sound quality is good but I'm sure not nearly as good as the S4s. But, these are only $39 on Amazon. The problem I have with these is the tips. The medium tips fit my ear the best but I believe the larger tips give me the best bass. However, the larger tips don't fit in my ear comfortably and fall out. The medium tips fit nicely and give me the seal in my ear...but the bass is lacking. I will say the sound quality is much better using the iPod than using the iPhone apps like Pandora...but that is a given anyway. While I'm not blown away by the sound quality, it is better and louder than what I had before in the Sony model I had that were a little cheaper. They are comfortable assuming the tips fit in your ear correctly. If you are looking for the best, then spend more money on the S4s. These will suffice for a lot of people. If you are looking to use earbuds with apps like Pandora and Slacker...I'm sure the better earbuds will assist in the sound quality. The S2s sound a lot better on iPod music...as that is what they are really designed for and with in mind. I would recommend them on that basis alone. If I had more patience, then I would have probably bought the S4s. But, I was on a Best Buy outing and they overprice em...so I went with the S2s on sale. I'm not unhappy that I did...but I know the S4s are better just by looking at them given the size of the ear buds. If you are not huge on having louder, bass thumpier earbuds, then you would probably do fine with the Klipsch S2s. They are a good upgrade over most ear buds at a similar or lower price point. But, those looking for more who want to spend more will probably find the S4s are the best deal at the price point...without pumping a few hundred more into the top ones that many say the S4s are as good as or better than.
Haha you don't want to know how much some of my high-end pairs were for. Or just go to Headfi and see how much people spend on "just some earphones". Like any other thing in life, earphones can easily cost hundreds and thousands of dollars. Although after a certain price point the law of diminishing returns really kicks in, there is a remarkable difference between the audio quality of $300 ear buds, and that of $50 ear buds for anyone with normal hearing. It's like the people that shake their heads when hearing people love V12 engines over the I4 of a Camry. Environmental cost notwithstanding, people would go for the V12 because it's an entirely different experience.
I'm liking my S4s, only "issue" is the horrible output of my cell "mp3 player" phone is augmented drastically. On a quality audio device the sound is great. On the other hand, I'm jealous of the Beats' non-tangle wires. If you added up all the time I've spent untangling earphone wires it's probably worth more than the extra $40 price tag on the Beats.

After my original thread - I went with the Klipsch Image S4 from amazon. OMG. Best. Headphones. Ever. They are noise isolating - so I don't have to crank my iphone all the way up to hear my podcasts over ambient noise They do not fall out of my ear when I'm at the gym They haven't (yet) gone out... Both buds (KNOCK ON WOOD) are still working just fine. I wan to marry and make sweet, sweet passionate love to these headphones - that is how much I love them.
I am giving you good feedback... Don't by the S4's they are too much, when you move the chord you can literally hear every single sound. Purchase these, guaranteed you will not be disappointed, sweat resistant too and the never fall off. Really good noise cancellation. Link to Logitech Earbuds
NO. Find me those please. I'd love to see them... are they made of gold or diamonds? I can see how an engine is thousands less or more than another and that's not even a fair comparison... but, come on... EARPHONES? Seriously? Not thousands of dollars. NO ONE needs to spend that much money on EARPHONES. Also, the OP is asking for "earbuds" or "in-ear headphones."
I recommended the Klipsch S4's in the other thread, and I'll recommend them again. They are around $80 and probably the best headphones in the price range you mentioned (I like them even better than some of the more expensive headphones). There are the S5i's that just came out recently as well. I don't have them, but I'm guessing they have to at least be as good as the S4's. You can grab the S5i's from Ebay for around a $100.
Here you go, Swoly: Monster Turbine Pro Miles Davis Edition - $399 There is a significant difference in sound when you go up in quality. You don't have to be an audiophile to hear it. Valuing that difference is another thing completely...
This definitely, I had to compare to my dre beats a couple of times cause it had such a better balance eq wise. I went back to my dre though because I wanted that bass.
I remember spending $200+ on some Shure buds, the only thing I didn't like is the lack of bass. That and I realized I hated in-ear buds. Too much wax, doesn't properly fit sometimes, etc. Gonna get me some [expensive] headphones that cover the entire ear, but not right now. Using cheap Apple buds for now.
