I was going to write something here, but Air Bullard said it better. You fix Scola with a center addition.

Bingo, you get a defensive minded center and Scola will look A LOT better. The problem is that it maybe harder then expected to acquire one and thus Luis will continue to get torched. You have options at Power Forward for the future and present so ultimately, Luis maybe the best asset to get a true center.

Yeah in 1 year patterson will learn all from scola. If things are that easy, Sasha vujacic could be as good as kobe... i mean he got mentor by kob for like 3 years and he stills sucks.
U cant teach natural skill level, paterson can be better than he is now, thats for sure, but i dont c him getting numbers like scola, he is just not that good.
    Best scenario he is a 10 point 8 rebound , 1.5 block.
I know we really like in this forum to give credit to our young guys, but some of them are just not that good ( hill, budinger, patterson). Most of them are and will be at most, rotantion players who can help of the bench. Scola is a starter in this league even if his defense is not good at all.

scola gortat would be nice. but without a good SF or a PG that can score, we are not close to contending. Assuming Melo is out of the question, and assuming that we do not engage in magical thinking on the trade front, but rather, stay realistic, we are simply not going to be able to put the pieces together to contend this year or next. We have to strongly consider rebuilding and putting ourselves in a position to be players in next years free agent market. i love scola, but if we are rebuilding, we have to consider moving him.

I totally agree, even if fans say they love Scola, he's still very underrated.
Remember Scola when Yao was healthy, how better his D looked because there was a Defensive C backing him for his defensive shortcomings.

Obvious that another Yao is not possible, but a good defensive Center (no matter how bad in O he is) would make inside D a lot better, cause Scola can contribute in D and his limitations would be covered with a good shotblocking C.

In the very worst case scenario, Rockets could get Dalembert next year....and before tha trading deadline, they could get a Chuck Hayes 4 inches taller in Okafor. Expring plus some young player or picks could od the trick, because the hornetts don;t like Okafor contract, and he is not a good fit for them, as he'd be for the Rockets.

Maybe he could be, but last year, he didn't play in the fourth very often. The few times he was in, they never gave him the ball. There were many close games that he likely could of won for us. I kept screaming, give Scola the ball. It has been similar this year, as passes never come his way late in the game. I would like to see what he's capable of down the stretch. Maybe we've had a decent closer all along. If nothing else, any doubles he'd command, would open up better shots for others at the end of games.

He was great in isolation. He even passed out of the double team effectively but the other guys couldn't move the ball to the open shooter. Scola is great at toying with the defense and getting them NOT to double with all his flipping back and forth before he makes the ultra quick move to the rim.

I've been saying this for a while now, Scola and Martin will keep us in the dreaded level of mediocrity.

We need this team to take a dive. Which starts by trading both Scola and Martin, specially Scola, whom deserves a chance to really compete for a title. Trading him in my proposed deal with the Thunder(Scola for Harden/Aldrich) would be the ideal trade, which helps both clubs...

Obviously in an ideal world, Morey can turn some of the Brooks, Lowry, Buddinger, Lee, Hayes and Jordan Hill into an All-Star PG a very good defensive SF and a Great defensive Center.
Obviously this world is far from ideal.
