If you never played Battlefield 2 on the PC, you missed out on the BEST MILITARY FPS EVER! Call of Duty Modern Warfare/Black Ops basically borrow alot of things from this game which came out 5 or so years ago. Battlefield Bad Company games were basically a scaled down premise of Battlefield 2, but many missing elements. Well, Battlefield 3 will be released in the Fall of 2011 on consoles and PC. THIS WILL TAKE BACK THE CROWN OF THE BEST FPS! Supposedly, the Limited Edition will include a DLC map "Back to Karkand". "Strike at Karkand" map in Battlefield 2 may be the BEST TEAM FPS map ever created. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xP0Ij1_VTY0 http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/05/rumor-battlefield-3-limited-edition-to-include-back-to-karkand/
I'm still debating if I want to upgrade my PC for this or get the console version. I'm more of a console gamer, but I LOVED BF2 on PC. I like Bad Company 2 on PS3, but I still miss playing on PC.
the last fps i've played was counter strike, it was the love of my life... every fps since has paled in comparison, the new stuff just feels like mindless run and gun i havent played bf2 because bf 1942 sucked so hard
Has there been any confirmation on how many players per map for the console version? I saw 64 for PC, but no number for console. I'd like to stay console, if only because shooters on PC in the last 5 years have been so hacker-ridden. Even though the PS3 has been "cracked," I'm certain hackers will remain more prevalent on PC. But if the number of players is too scaled-down, might have to go with PC.
BF2 has been the only game I ever got into. Lots of fun, don't think I'll by BF3 though, don't have the time for it.
From what I've read it'll be 24 players on consoles. Something about Destruction and 64 players won't work.
here's a link, this was actually about Battlefield 1943 but I imagine the same applies here: http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/44624/Battlefield-1943-Why-The-24-Player-Limit
That would be really weak if true. For Bad COmpany 2 it's 24 console vs 32 PC... not that big of a difference. If BF3 is 24 console vs 64 PC... yeah, i'll definitely need to get it on PC. But hey... MAG managed hundreds of players. I think they can get past 24. It's just a matter of how far.
Not that I have much time to waste in games etc. I just upgraded to the nvidia 570GTX SC. I've been running my old 8800GTS in SLI on my I-7 system with DDR3 2000 ram...lol. Finally getting rid of these old GPU's.
EA made BF3 free to buy until June 3. Yes you can still play it after June 3 as long as you add it to your origin account... it's "on the house" in their origin store. https://www.origin.com/en-gb/store/buy/battlefield-3/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition If you don't have an origin account you can make one.
