Mistake, don't let Nash wither away in mediocrity, trade him now so you get some future pieces back, the guy also deserves one last run with a real contender.
Suns are definitely going to keep Nash. He has too much marketability (like Yao) too trade. After he's gone, what other player can have the stardom he has?
It's funny how much the team has changed since last year's team that played in the Western Conference finals. I think they're lucky they were able to undo some of the damage they did over the summer (i.e. Hedo). I think they will see how the new team will play with Nash. If it all goes to hell, then they will trade Nash.
Nash is a drawcard in Phoenix which will keep him there. The Suns laid off the most staff in the NBA last season.
He says that now, but he'll change his tune once they are 6 games out of the playoff picture on Feb. 24th.
We see things differently as fans, but to owners, meal ticket >>> contending. Look at the Wolves post-Garnett. Revenue is in the sewer.
None of this means anything at all. It's just blather. When the deadline gets close, if someone makes a legit offer for Nash, the Suns will ask him if he likes the trade and he will say yes or no.
It's a PR game, methinks. Neither Nash nor the Suns want to be the first to publicly push for a trade
they rely heavily on nash, carter, and hill. those guys are not going to be around by the time the suns are competing for a championship. even right now they are barely in the playoff picture. the right move is to trade those guys to playoff team that can use them. that way you do right by the players, and you get something in return for them before their value declines with their game... or worse, before they just retire. im sure fans want nash to retire a sun, but i don't think nash wants to play his last couple of years on a lotto team when he can still lead a team to a championship.
Exactly. Sarver doesn't want to trade the one reason to come out and watch the Suns this season, even if it makes a ton of basketball sense. Nash is a staple in the community and is by far their most popular player. The Yao comparison is a decent one even if it's not quite an apples to oranges comparison. Nash's worth to the Suns goes far beyond what he does on the court.
