Don't always hold L2 and try to stay in front of your defender. If hes not a great shooter, just sag-off. (Ex. Rondo) Another tip, only press the block button when you feel that your opponent is gonna shoot, don't spam it especially if you don't have a good shot blocker. (Also, don't hold R2 when you block unless you are chasing down some1 on fast break or using a good shot blocker to play help defense)
i just try to do whatever to get the d off balance, whether it's using headfakes, iso cross-overs, or changing mid-air during a layup... I also find that with shorter/quicker players, iso+midrange jumpers work well...
Try going into the playbooks and adding plays you like...I had a day where I had nothing to do...and just stayed in the playbook looking for plays...and found a great deal of plays... I run stretch/cross/double (basically running my guards off screens) to get Martin/Brooks open. For Scola...kind of the same but also post plays. Brooks is great for isos. Martin is great for screens and picks if you want to run picks for him, just get his release right. I get Shane in the post if I notice the matchup favors him when it comes to strength. I have yet to figure out Kyle though...just don't know what to do with him. (Got any ideas for Lowry?? He's the ONLY rocket I haven't figured out on this game) Brooks is better on that game than he is. Patterson is great for face-up opportunities, Terrence Williams is an absolute BEAST, Lee and CBud's releases are both great, so run plays for em...coming off picks, and they are both athletic/good dunkers, so try called alley oops/lobs.
As for defense...I'm still trying to find the right combo...I like zone but it's tough to react fast enough to make it a matchup zone, so you have to watch out. I'm thinking call it early and see what your opponent does if you want to do it. And listen to most people here...guard the ball.
I'm just pissed there is the New York Knicks 1993-1994 team but there is no Houston Rockets 1993-1994 team! I mean wtf? We were the champions!!
Started a new my player, drafted 28th in the 1st rd to Memphis. Currently we are 2-8, averaging 22 min p/g producing 21ppg 3orpg 9rbg 5apg 2spg 1bpg 1topg 6'8 230 Slashing SF. Ima do everything in my might to get on the Rockets, coincidently Yao went down 3 games into the season, but holding onto a 8-2 record! Has anyone finished a complete season? If so, do you get an option on signing to a diff team?
I finished one season already, you can request for a trade anytime before the deadline. You can also list 3 destination teams you want to be traded to. But you won't always go to your first choice though. I am a scorer SG and was drafted by Kings and we were doing really bad, so I requested a trade, then I listed in the order of Rockets, Thunder, then Lakers. Eventually I got traded to to my 3rd choice team which is the Lakers and got a ring in the end. At the start of the next season I was a free-agent and decided not to sign again with the Lakers. Chicago Bulls came to offer me, so I signed with them and having a blast playing with Rose, Deng, Boozer, and Noah
I just move the ball and try to find a good shot and force any contested shots... If you suck with their shots go practice in freestyle mode on hall of fame..
Online Lee Martin Williams Patterson Hill Use Budinger and sometimes Brooks off the bench plus Scola. TURN OFF SUBS!!! I used to lose a lot but now hard to beat. Lee is good and can dunk all over people. I had the nastiest dunk I have ever seen in a game with Patterson. The other guy paused and replayed it. I didnt even have to lol.
I agree, Terrence is amazing to use. I use him over Bud in association. I play on hall of fame and against elite teams i struggle to keep the deficit under 8-10 points due to the fact of how difficult it is defending. Guarding the ball handler is almost impossible. It's way too difficult playing without a stud, especially on a video game and with the rockets it's no walk in the park even against the pits of the league. 2k9 T-Mac days....
He is quite streaky. Sometimes on fading shots he has a longer release. Yao is broken like always. Dominates single handedly. Aaron Brooks is solid. Scola in the post is decent. I like driving and moving the ball around to get him an open jumper which he usually sinks. Battier is in the game to make 3s and thats about it. I play superstar with slightly adjusted sliders. Hall of Fame just gets frustrating sometimes
I played as the Rockets in association and won 82 games straight. I think having your quarter length extended to 8+ helps a lot as short quarters leave too much chance for a slump period or a hot streak for the other team and gives you more time to come back in such a case. I don't really run any plays other than the occasional pick that a teammate would set. Just be patient and wait for an open man. I think this may be a glitch, but Brooks in a mid-range fade away hits almost 100%. When you want a fast break 3 and you don't have the threat of a defender, pause for a second and don't shoot immediately. Yao's fade away is also very effective when posting a defender. When your jumpers aren't hitting and you need points, just pass it to Yao under the basket and you usually can't go wrong. The fact that I could win so easily with the Rockets doesn't say much for the game in terms of realism and balance. So my ultimate tip would be to just go into shootaround and understand the release of all your players so come game time, that isn't what's hindering you. As long as you get the release timing right for the right shot, even with a sticky defender your shots will probably hit 6/10 times.
I play 12 minute quarters on All-Star My lineup is: PG - Terrence Williams ( hey, he said he was a PG, so I wanted to try it) SG - Kevinn Martin SF - Josh Smith PF - Luis Scola C - Yao Ming 6th Man - Patrick Patterson 6th Man - Mike Bibby Role Player - Chase Budinger Role Player - Courtney Lee Role Player - Brendan Haywood (had to pick him up when I lost Yao for 6 weeks) Bench Player - Chuck Hayes D-league - Jordan Hill Prospect - Ish Smith I didn't override any of the trades I did. Did a lot of draft pick movements and such. I don't run plays, but rather play a lot of post. I also fastbreak a lot which gets me some wide open 3's in transition. I typically rotate defenders, but I like to use the 4 or 5 on defense the most, and let the CPU play D with my guards.
