Chuck Hayes consistently plays great defense every game, hustles night in and night out, and now has added a decent offensive game. Is it surprising he hasn't been involved in any trade discussions?
Great guy, but I don't think he really has a role on a legit contender. Most good teams are going to have a good post players who are of a legitimate size and can play solid offense/defense when asked upon them. You can't go far with a 6'6 center.
PF is his natural position, and he is greatly valued as a defender. I'm quite sure that a contender would like him,but they aren't likely to give up too much for him.
So I'm watching Griffin absolutely terrorize the Bulls. Chuck shuts this guy down on a consistent basis. Every team has a spot for that caliber of a defender.
Chuck is a nice backup 4 and occasional 5. He has a place on some teams, depending on the roster makeup.
He probably won't be a starter on a contending team but I'm pretty sure those team wouldn't mind having him to shutdown other PF's. He's one of those players that will still give it his all with limited minutes.
You can tell Chuck was dead tired in the 4th quarter. He played 85 total minutes on back to back nights, guarding two great scorers, Pau Gasol and Al Jefferson. He's my hero.
Wes Unseld. And by the way, The Lakers, the Bulls, the Celtics and the Magic would kill to have Chuck Hayes.
I can't believe people still undervalue the Chuckster. This guy would definitely be chased by contenders. When you need somebody shut down you call on him. The bulls, celtics and lakers would all love to have him. Imagine him as your off the bench PF or C to cool off the opposing teams hot post up player. The fact he has added to his offensive repertoire means we are gonna have to pay him to keep him this time around. No more near veteran's minimum for the chuckster, he is gonna get close to the MLE this time around.
