Seems more like a tie, there were no winners.

    Courtney Lee is though.

    No Ariza, no Lee.

If we failed on melo, and grangers price was too high. Id like this as our 3rd option...he brings us the exact thing we need and lost with him. As long as he can be controlled.

Get him then go all in on Marc Gasol, Nene, Gortat or Javal Mcgee.

    I think thats a contender...we have the O and D the d that way.

    Lowry brooks
    Martin lee
    Artest bud
    Scola patt
    Defensive center

If we have a beast in the paint it makes everyones job easier and will allow scola to play his quirky scrapy d without giving up easy points...

    Sounds good.

So, Ron got his ring last year, the Lakers are less of a juggernaut this year, and he wants out.

Of course, how much Ron has declined might be in question. He's not the same player as a couple years back. But he's, what?, 4th or 5th most important player on that team.

Not that we're gowanns to trade for him or anything.

Well....there is that matter of Artest hitting some crucial shots in that Game 7 against the Celtics.

Lakers won the trade, they got the championship for a second consecutive year. Thats all that matters.

I'll take a bad contract for just 1 championship. Any GM or owner would do that in this league hands down.

    Basically, Ron resents being "Battier-ed."

I say go trade for Artest, it would at least make this crappy team more entertaining

I don't blame Ron for wanting out of there ASAP....he sees the writing on the wall for that team. Unless they acquire another superstar, that team is heading for the outhouse instead of the penthouse. Gasol has showed himself to be the gutless ninny we all knew him to be, Kobe is finally showing signs of wear and tear, Fisher is just a douchebag, and their role players aren't producing at the same clip as they have been the last 2 years. Honestly, if it wasn't for Odom, this team would be fighting for home court advantage, and probably losing that fight.

How can you say that when the Lakers won it all last year and we still suck. I would take a bad contract if it meant winning a championship.

Actually 3 years @ $15 million. No wonder we have disgruntled Brooks. Miller to the Lakers so he can be the high post passer in the triangle sounds good and we unload Hill if they give us Character in return. Sounds reasonable.

Except we gave him 2 years with the 3rd year non-guaranteed.

Uhh... dudes, the Lakers were a championship team without Ron-Ron.

They could've had Ariza for the same money (maybe less?) and would've likely been just as good, if not better.

But instead, now they have a crap contract and a crap player, while we flipped Ariza for Martin, whom I do love oh so very dearly.

Lakers gonna Lake, but there's no denying Martin > Artest.

Oh wait, what am I saying?? We SO could've won the championship last year if we only had RONNY!!!

I can't believe anyone here in their right mind would want Ron back. He's been on a sharp decline and still has three years left on his contract. Not to mention, what a whiny little diva. He approaches Kobe in the shower about wanting to join the Lakers and help him...gets his wish...and now whines about not having a bigger role on offense. He should be happy he plays for the Lakers and just focus on his defensive responsibilities. Ron is great entertainment, but has no business being on this Rockets team again. We need a young stud SF to come in for an aging Battier.

Lol we flipped Ariza for Martin? No we didn't, we flipped Landry for Martin. We got Courtney Lee for Ariza. And what makes you think we'd have one a championship last year with Ron, if the previous year our roster was twice as good but lost in the second round?

    TruWarier's MSG-bound.

He needs to go home, and represent Queens and his beloved Knicks.
