Most likely the coldest I've been in was when my family lived outside of Philly in the late 70's. I have pictures of being in snow taller than I was at age 3.

    That's pretty ignorant.

Do you also not believe in the humidex for hot temperatures?

I don't think you understand how heat systems work in organisms.

There is a term in mechanics called the boundary layer (of relatively warm air) around all humans, once that is removed heat and moisture off your skin is transferred from your body faster.

Wind chill is not "nonsense", it's science lol.

it was a really cold day, maybe around -10 with windchill... where i lived, i was just under the minimum distance for school bus so i had to walk to school... i fell about a dozen times because of the ice on the sidewalk... worst experience ever :(

Coldest I've ever felt, was the first time I went to Calgary. About -25C(-15F). I took a deep breath on leaving the airport and doubled over in pain. A full body slurpy brain freeze. I guess there's a method to breathing in the cold.

Coldest temp I've ever been in was about -30ish skiing with winds. You weren't allowed on the lift if you had any skin exposed. Snow was surreal -- crunchy and powdery at the same time. When we went to the lodge, boots immediately frosted over, and we had to wait about half an hour for them to thaw before taking them off. I was fully bundled though, so I don't remember it feeling cold.

-35 wind chill during the packers last regular season game during their super bowl run in 96-97. when we got in the car to drive back to chicago, i made the mistake of taking my gloves off and putting my hands right up to the vents with the heat on high. that effin' hurt the entire ride home.

Lived in Iowa for awhile. I'd say -30ish F for the temperature with a wind chill down to -60 or more.

Attended a college football game in St. Cloud, Minnesota once. Stadium in a bowl/depression in the ground. It was well, well below zero and we sat on the visitor's side where the sun did not reach us. Wind was swirling, too.

At halftime I went inside where they serve refreshments and did not come out until the game was over. As I entered that building my entire face melted and ran out my nose. I did not know a human being could carry that much snot around.

    To hell with cold.

Have you ever been anywhere north of Houston before?? Wind chill is a mother****er, and it DEFINITELY makes it feel a helluva lot colder than it actually is. If anything, shouldn't your misguided anger be in the opposite direction?? If the thermometer says 45, but it FEELS like 10 because of wind chill, are you gonna wear a light winter jacket, or a freaking COAT? Yeah, that's what I thought.....

    11 degrees in NYC.

Went up to visit my wife for the weekend. Made the mistake of not checking the weather forecast. Got up there on Friday and it was in the 50's so no sweat. Had not take a jacket or anything. When I had to catch a cab Monday morning it was 11 degrees and I had to wait five min in just jeans and short sleeve shirt. My wife gave me her pink beanie, but I swear I couldn't feel my ears for at least a while.

Was just reading up on some of the coldest cities in the world and of course have of them are in Russia. I think the coldest got to almost -100 degrees.

How the hell are you even suppose to breathe in that kinda weather? Do you need oxygen tanks? How does something like you ac unit just not freeze over in that? Car battery, etc?

If there's wind, then there's wind. Wear a windbreaker. If it's cold, then it's cold. Wear warm clothes. What's there not to understand about that? The part "Feels like" is what I am asking about. What "FEELS LIKE"...? Does everyone have the same "FEEL"? No. It may "chill" because there's a wind, or it may get colder... OK, but... how can everyone "FEEL" the same way?

How about we also start measuring DISTANCE in MINUTES now?

Or maybe we can measure ROAD RAGE in colors of traffic reports GOOGLE MAPS puts out? :p

The reason why they say "feels like" is so they can put a quantifiable number on the effect wind chill is having on the air. I think it's safe to say that MOST people would understand that it's not ACTUALLY 10 degrees when they say it feels like 10 degrees, but it's a way for them to say, "Look people, your thermometer might SAY 45, but dress warmer than that!" Again, I'm not 100% sure what it is you're arguing about, but regardless, it makes no sense, and you sound like that lady who blamed the government for light refraction off rainwater in her backyard.

This can be said about the majority of random issues SwoLy decides to take such a strong stance on.

^ I understand what you tried to explain, but the wind isn't "chilling the air", it's chilling the environment at which the temperature is being recorded by a thermometer. Read your statement again... tell me if this is what you tried to explain.

In the sense that you're explaining it, and because there is no "quantifiable number" then, it should be named something different, not "FEELS LIKE", as we all don't feel the same thing (that's what SHE said). But who am I to tell a bunch of news peeps to change their manner of making everyone "FEEL" the same?

Someone from Boston comes to H-Town and melts at 95ยบ, while we all go "nonsense, it's COOL!"... so... do we "FEEL" the same?
