If I put 2 and 2 together, I get 4 or 22. The only #4's left in the playoffs are Ron Harper and Travis Best and nobody has #22. Why would we want Harper or Best??? 8~P ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
Okay I think I finally got this thing figured out. It is either a team headed to the finals or somebody in a long series. Lakers are mostly old and the young players just aren't that good. Portland, I just doubt it. So Indiana, probably headed to the finals. So I think Croshere. But hey it could be somebody like Harrington but I am sticking with Croshere. ------------------

CLUTCH, can you say whether this player is still in the playoffs or not? If it is Croshere, what do you guys think it will take for the Rocks to get him from Indiana? ------------------ We need some meat in the post!

In my best Bill Clinton voice, it all depends on Clutch's definition of the word young. ------------------
Grummett- I agree. That is what I have been thinking about lately. I don't think it's Camby, because even though I believe New York will win this series, it doesn't appear that way to other people and Clutch said that it looks like he will be around for a while. That means that either the player is going to the Finals or appears to be in a long series. To most people, that leaves Indiana, Portland, and LA. You can scratch LA off the list because they have nothing we want that we can afford, which leaves Indiana and Portland. To me, there are two players on these two teams that are free agents, big men, and fit the description that people have said the Rockets are looking for. (big man who hustles, rebounds, etc.) These guys are Brian Grant and Austin Croshere. However, it all depends on how loosely you define the word young. Brian Grant is relatively young (under 30) and if the word young is being used as a broad term it could be him. But if we are talking about someone who is very young, there is little to no doubt in my mind that it is Austin Croshere. I personally believe Clutch was discussing someone around the age of our current team, and if you want my own personal opinion I think it's Croshere. Clutch- can you define how young you are talking about here? ------------------
By the way, HP, are you being serious about the Theo Ratliff thing or are you just guessing? Cause if you're serious, and this has a legit shot at happening, we are going to have one hell of an offseason. Where'd you hear about it? ------------------
The players that fit all the criteria to date are Croshere, Harrington, and possibly Camby (probably violates #2). Based on Clutch's last comments that it will still be awhile (A team will probably go all the way to the finals, ie. Indiana winning series) are: Al Harrington Austin Croshere I'd like either one! But based on hearing in the press that Indiana considers it critical to sign Croshere and Rose, (could be misdirection, of course) meaning someone will get left out, it would seem like Al Harrington. ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
Sherlock- I don't think it's Harrington, because this is not based on who is available. Yes, he probably is more available than Croshere, but this is about who the Rockets want, not who is the most realistic. I like Harrington's talent, but I think it is Croshere if you look at all the clues we have been given. The Rockets have said many times that they want a banger with some experience at the power forward spot. This fits Croshere. He is gaining valuable experience this year, and off the bench if you watch him he can go in and grab 10 rebounds. Harrington is not a hustler/banger like the Rockets want. Croshere is. So is Brian Grant, so lets not forget him. One other thing about Croshere. We all know about how Rudy loves big men who can shoot, and Croshere is a dead-eye shooter who can drill the open threes. A few weeks ago, Rocketsfan34 speculated we might be looking at someone like Jason Collier in the draft because of a Rudy quote saying something to the effect of we are looking for our next shooting big man. He may not have been talking about the draft, but rather to Austin Croshere and getting him in the offseason. If you think about it it does make sense. ------------------ [This message has been edited by The Cat (edited May 26, 2000).]

What's going on with Brian Grant? He has been very ineffective vs the Lakers thus far. He has been known to be a defensive prowess, good offensive rebounder, and an average offensive player. So far, he has not shown much of the qualities mentioned. I hope this is mostly due to his limited MPG and not anything else. Anyhow, this should be somewhat of a concern for Rockets fans who would like for him to be on our roster next yr.
Against the Lakers Grant has been terrible. Brian seems as the player who can't come through in the clutch and doesn't show leadership qualities. Right now it looks like his offensive game is being taken out of the Blazers style. I wouldn't mind having Grant but it would cost the Rockets a lot of money and he hasn't showed leadership in the post. ------------------ THE DEAN HAS WRITTEN
