a lot of people are advocating replacing adelman. this made me wonder, who is actually available that would be an improvement? i dont think anyone is, but im willing to be convinced if any of you can name a good candidate and defend your choice with a solid argument. * please don't say JVG. he has expressed no interest in returning to the bench. * please don't select a head coach who is currently under contract with another NBA team.
Mike Brown. I know Lebron gets all the credit but under Mike Brown, Cleveland was a top defensive team. Obviously we need a little help on the defensive end. Brown is a fairly young coach and comes from the Spurs organization tree. Mike Brown should be considered a top candidate
We should've retained Thibadeux back when JVG was replaced and kept him as defensive coordinator while hiring Adelman as head coach.
Maybe the Rockets should aid Larry Brown in his quest to coach every single basketball team at every level in the United States. #NoWayInHellWouldIWantLarryBrown
I would like Sam Mitchell as he is good at developing young Players, my Dark Horse canidate if you could get him is Ettore Messina Now at CSKA Moscow, Messina is the most likely candidate to become the first European head coach in the NBA. He has guided his teams to four Euroleague titles, and helped the Italian national team win a silver medal at the 1997 European Championship. RA just seems more interested in his winning percentage that developing the youngster we have. T Williams, C Lee for example
That would've been impossible. JVG/Thiadeux's philosophy doesn't work with Adelman. In our old system, perimeter players don't try to cut to the basket, because it puts them out of position to get back in transition once they shoot. In our old system, everyone runs back on defense once a shot has been attempted, giving the rebound to opponent in order to prevent transition baskets. I'm not saying one way is better than the other, but rather they don't mix. We could've either given Thibadeux the head coaching job, or let him go.
The only NBA head coaches that are left are: Larry Brown Mike Brown Either of these coaches are REALLY bad. I can't see Rick Adelman getting replaced. Maybe there is a really good college coach or assistant coach somewhere that might take the reigns but I can't see Rick getting replaced by either of the two.
Hell no to Mike Brown! I don't want a guy who gets so giddy over Mo Williams in a press conference, that he can't even get a sentence out. Pass.
Just throwing this in, what about Mike Woodson? He improved his team every year in his six years with Atlanta. 2009-10 53-29 .646 2008-09 47-35 .573 2007-08 37-45 .451 2006-07 30-52 .366 2005-06 26-56 .317 2004-05 13-69 .159 http://www.nbauniverse.com/teams/records_atlanta_hawks.htm
Mike Brown? Are you people joking? Does everyone realize the East was in its worst shape when he was coaching and he basically told his players to give the ball to Lebron and let him work 95% of the time? His team lost every single time they faced a legit team in the playoffs (spurs, celtics, etc). Please don't ever bring his name up again on this website as a replacement. There are only 6 head coaches with a championship since 1990 out there. Phil Jackson, Rudy T, Pat Riley, Greg Popovich, Larry Brown and Doc Rivers. There aren't too many worthy candidates out there for us to replace Rick at the moment.
I think this is actually the wrong question to ask. The RIGHT question to ask is who will be willing to come coach here when Adelman decides that he's too old to baby-sit little kids and decid to either coach a contender, or just retire. Because let's face it, there's no way Adelman's coaching through the rebuilding process. Dude's not that desperate for this job.
I really do not see anyone right now that is not under contract worth going after. Now if Nate McMillan were to be available after this season, I'd go for him. http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2010/09/blazers_notebook_nate_mcmillan.html
Yeah lets replace one of the best coaches in the NBA with mike brown. I don't get why you think RA is such a bad defensive coach. Look at his past teams, most were pretty good. The roster is more of a problem than coaching on this team.
