I'm thinking VY6 will be announced as the new player-coach.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/20910/statements-from-titans-and-jeff-fisher
    Statement from the Titans:

“We will be forever appreciative of Jeff Fisher’s leadership and accomplishments through his time with our franchise. We reached some of our greatest heights and experienced some unforgettable moments during his tenure.

“After the season was complete, we had numerous discussions on the direction of the team and were pleased that we were moving forward with Jeff at the helm. Since that time, it became evident that consensus was increasingly hard to find and reality wasn’t matching the vision we discussed. It is unfortunate that this decision is coming at this juncture, but we believe that we have reached the point where change is in the best interest of both parties.

“We will start the head coaching search tomorrow. We expect to talk to a broad and diverse group of candidates. We are confident the coaching pool still has a number of quality candidates that can lead our football team.”

    Statement from Jeff Fisher:

“I want to thank Mr. Adams and the organization for a special 17 years. I can’t thank the fans enough for the support they showed us through the years; it has been a tremendous experience. We all did our very best and I think I can look back with fond memories and be very proud of what we accomplished. I want to wish the organization, the current players and the fans nothing but the best in the future.”

Sad to see him go in a way, but its better for the Texans. No way the Titans land on their feet. They'll stumble now. Officially rebuild. So ya, count me in on the Jeff Fisher bandwagon. The guy is a terrific coach.

Pretty likely. Bud Adams is a **** stain for what he did leaving town, but he's been a better owner than McNair so far.

I'm thinking they make a serious push for Cowher, just to piss us off.

    Wow.

I'm hoping you are just so young that you don't remember him embarrassing himself and the city nonstop. Hopefully you don't remember him micromanaging the team repeatedly, either.

There has never been a worse owner in the history of Houston pro sports than Bud Adams, irrespective of whatever he did leaving town. You could combine all the worst traits of Drayton McLane, John McMullen, and anybody else you can think of and you still wouldn't have a Frankenstien monster equal to Adams. He was a control freak, a cheapskate, an idiot, and a constant source of embarrassment all at the same time.

My thoughts exactly. Bud did the right thing with both VY and Fisher. I can't believe it.

I'm in nashville, here is how it went down. . .
Part 1: Front office decides VY is bunk, the decision is made to commence with Fisher and the promise for more accountability will be held on Fisher going forward...

fast forward to about 2 to 3 weeks. . .

Part 2: (Fisher controls the coaches-btw) Chuck Cecil signed an extension during the 2010 year, then is fired only recently...parting gift to Cecil by Fisher?...Since Fisher controls coaching personnel under him, I'm sure this pissed the Owner that Cecil would get paid in 2011...who knows? No owner, specially Bud had to like that...

Part 3: After the bad taste, after the rumors that Fisher would be demoted to run the defense with or without Cecil...enter the chaos buildup to this eventuality. . . .

Fisher also wanted his son to be the teams conditioning coach, but Adams has a loooong lasting policy of "no family hires" and he stood by his decision. Another reason Jeff was tossed aside.

They just didn't want him winding up in Dallas. Or Houston. They wanted to stick it to the guy.

But somehow his teams were pretty successful other than the choking.

The team has a winning percentage under .500 for its existance.

    1966: 3-11

    1970: 3-10-1
    1971: 4-9-1
    1972: 1-13
    1973: 1-13
(You think the Texans suck? When the have a four year run like this, let's talk.)

    1982: 1-8
    1983: 2-14
    1984: 3-13
    1985: 5-11
    1986: 5-11
(Here's another run that the Texan's haters would just love.)

    1992: 2-14

In 30 years prior to Jeff Fisher, he had two decent runs after being incredibly bad and the rest of the time they sucked a whole lot.

If not for 1) Earl Campbell and 2) Warren Moon, every single one of Bud's NFL Houston teams would have SUCKED ON ICE.

I'm glad the guy is gone. He was an overrated coach and his teams weren't really much fun to watch.
