You were right. The word "have" is an auxiliary or helping verb and it's needed when time isn't actually measured or defined. The word "of" is a preposition, however. There is a special section in http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/of about how "have" is often misspelled as "of" in that context. REP for you, sir. Now go back to that FB "argument" (of which there is none) and close that deal. I have never understood this one either. You don't "agree to disagree." WTF. You just "DISAGREE" and that's the end. Don't paint a turd BROWN.
You're right. Your friend using the word "of" is a case of him typing the sentence out as he heard it in his head. When he recited the line in his head, the word "have" sounded like "of."
i hate it when people don't know the difference between: there, they're and their; to, two and too; sense and since; hear and here; no and know; you're and your, and any more i seem to have left out. grammar is irritating.
Well, I couldn't get through to this guy, but he finally gave in when..... ...I told him to eat a plate of porpoise meat. Who would've known.
Not only are you right, but you could also call him out on the next one: its should be "it's" since it is short for "it is".
At first I thought your friend was SwoLy until you mention that last thing in your opening post. Then again, your friend could still be SwoLy but he made that post while under the influence of cold medicine or he just recently came to after having anesthesia.
Seriously? Y'all think I would have written "of" instead of "have"? **** no. I might be an annoying mother ****er on this BBS, but I know my grammar, b****es. Not even under the influence or alcohol do I **** up your ****ty language. I swear, I don't. Come on now.
