Who is your ISP? I have had ATT Comcast Windstream and they all suck. Now, the only options I have are Windstream and Comcast, and neither of them have any good offers. Do you own a modem or lease it? How much do you pay? Is it worth going to Clear or some other 4G provider?
I switched from Comcast to Clear in the past few months and I have been pleased. I bought a used modem off eBay for $30 and I am on a month-to-month plan with no contract. I have seen little to no difference in things I primarily use my internet for (general browsing, YouTube, Netflix). The only issue I've run into is downloading large files or torrents, but that is fairly rare for me.
They're haters. Been with Comcast/Time Warner for as long as I can remember.. never had any real issues with anything.
Great service when its up but when it goes down customer service sucks. Also, you share bandwith with everyone in the neighborhood so at peak times you may experience slow speeds. I have dsl with att. Only once have I had a problem with it going down (right when i was about to take my online final ), but other than that I game on xbox, download torrentz. watch netflix on xbox (this is another downside, I wish i could get the highest quality all the time but the quality seems to fluctuate)
For those with Clearwire, how consistent is the wireless? Especially for those in the Sugar Land area.
I have AT&T and have had nothing but problems for months. New modem, new router, multiple techs and still get an intermittent connection. I'm about to switch back to Time Warner for everything.
I get like 17mbps consistently on Comcast, with a good ping of about 17 ms. I have no issues with it, but do I like their pricing? No. If you have money, get Phonoscope and get an 80mb connection like I have here at work
Oh I remember, I asked about Clearwire a while back. Once I move back to Houston in the summer, I'm definitely switching to them. Comcast (via Earthlink) has such garbage speeds. Many times it was barely better than EDGE.
