"No, that's not a flagrant foul," Haywood told ESPNDallas.com's Jeff Caplan. "I feel the NBA should give my money back for that one. It was one of those plays, I just grabbed his arm. He's just so athletic and strong that he was still trying to finish the play and he ends up basically not protecting himself. "On those type of plays he has to realize, 'All right, I got fouled, just throw it at the rim and come down.' Protect yourself for the next play. Every play can't be a dunk-contest dunk." griffin got an elbow contusion from the play
I think Haywood held on to Griffin's arm too long and he might have deserved the flagrant. When the ref blows the whistle and the player committing the foul continues holding on, he risks a flagrant. But there is no doubt Griffin's hard fall is what triggered the ref. Haywood does make a good point to Griffin. He has to realize there is a risk in attacking the rim maniacally so often. Giving up his body so often is going to make players continue fouling him hard. Eventually Griffin will learn to pick his spots.
Griffin's so strong that I'm sure Haywood felt he could still finish the play if he didn't hold on to his arm. Griffin, in that instance, just tried too hard and Haywood got screwed with the flagrant.
In that case it's still on Haywood because he didn't make a play on the ball. I've seen plenty of flagrant fouls called because no play on the ball was made and the defender continued holding the arm of the player trying to score after he left the ground.
That was a pu$$y foul from Hawyood. He realised he was getting beaten in that play, he couldnt stop him by normal means, so he cheated and grabbed his arm to stop him. Its like having to resort in using a weapon to beat someone because you cant beat them in a normal fist fight. I hate all this grabbing and pulling. Its just a pu$$y tactic.
Haywood needs to play a little harder, like Griffin does. One of the main reasons I like Griffin is that he is a very talented player who plays hard all the time. So many NBA players lolligag it for lots of the game...when you get a talented guy who plays with an attitude and hard all game long, you get a superstar. Hello Blake Griffin. DD
It's called smart, conductive to wining basketball, making him earn it at the FT line is the right thing to do; Haywood apparently just didn't do it the right way.
I like the way he plays, he is my favorite player to watch...and he plays the right way. Disturbing? You are that mentally weak that you get disturbed because another fan likes a player. Yikes dude..... DD
Griffin could have broken his arm on that play (a la Andrew Bogut style). Haywood is right here; Griffin should play hard, yes, but he shouldn't play maniacally.
So undercutting a guy should be totally fine too, right? It's the undercut guys fault if he doesn't break his own fall? Haywood's a tool for trying to sell that crap. Reminds me of when guys claimed they should be allowed to jump on Shaq and beat him with rocks because he was strong enough to play through it.

Griffin is like a 90's player reborn and put into today's league. everyone should be riding his jock b/c not only is he breathing life back into the NBA but he is doing it on the Clippers. No more hoping Tyrone Nesby, Eric Piatkowski, and Maurice Taylor get it done.
thats no flagrant foul at all he does a slap on the wrist and griffin still scores and goes to the line meh had that been chuck hayes spinning and Haywood fouling him there would be just a regular foul call. griffin getting star calls in his rookie year...deserved though cuz he is playing like one
DD, you should see if clutch will let you have my original moniker....GriffinFan. Eddie, why couldn't you have played like Blake?
