Cmon now! Yao has consistenty been a 20 and 10 player for most of his tenure despite complete BS officiating against him night in and night out (which i witnessed for 5 years). Dont forget the role players he and McGrady had around them... Ryan Bowen was the starting PF in the playoff series against the Mavs.
i dont ncessarily agree with that. If you look at some of the better teams in the NBA, their arenas are at least 80% full. Look at the highlights for the Hornets game last night... it seemed like it was a playoff game. And you can argue that its cuz this team is not winning, but even when this team was doing well, our fan support is SUB-PAR. Its quite sad that i was told to SIT DOWN at a Rockets Playoff game against the Blazers cuz the people behind me couldnt see...
You may wanna do some research and see what our record has been with Yao in the Lineup vs. without Yao in the lineup. Have you noticed how this team has declined in the last 2 years? Guess who hasn't played... This team would be on track for 50+ wins if Yao was playing regardless of their 0-5 start.
Hornets had to have 11,000+ people show to keep their team in New Orleans But I dont disagree otherwise
You made the most sense and truth out of all the posts I have read so far on this thread.......I couldnt agree with you more.I dont think a super star is in our immediate future but do feel something will happen to atleast get us to the playoffs...and we all will watch, regardless.....just like they say "you still have to play the games"....ask the seahawks.....they played and won.....IT IS WRITTEN.
re the 8th seed vs lottery debate. i kno we've had that discussion many times before, but as a fan, i want this team to perform up to potential, which at best should be a 7-8 seed right now. then, once youre in anything can happen (ask the seahawks). the playoffs are infinitely more exciting than 3 draft spots. bring on the spurs, who'm i think we could beat if we're healthy kp
Karth, I am happy with either right now.....as Clutch said...either Lose, lose, lose, or win, win, win..but not win, lose, win, lose. That is purgatory. DD
I feel like the Rockets are rebuilding, at least I hope they are and I want the excitement of getting a top two draft pick either this year or next. I like some of the pieces that could build around a future star. I don't want C Anthony unless another star comes also like a Chris Paul. At this point one star will only prolong the inevitable rebuild. I want to see the glory, better days return as soon as possible but watching them is harder because we look like a team torn between winning now and rebuilding. That stinks
Feel like I did with the Texans (lack of any remote D, blowing/giving up 4th quarter leads)...had higher expectations going into the season and watch in disappointment night in/out with the product on the court...Barring moves see this team no better than .500...go Rox
Give Morey 3 years on being able to draft top 5 draft choices and he will show you a true contender in year 5. With Morey's skills, he will choose a shot blocking/rebounding center, and a two-way wingman and pg. There is only one way to get there, and you guys know it. Otherwise, we stay in purgatory, forever waiting for that superstar to call Houston his home.
I have a feeling that the Rockets have lost their way; that the "principals" in the situation are at cross purposes or, at least, they are not currently in agreement as to which direction the team should go. Some want to continue trying to rehabilitate Yao and return him into the mix. Others, think it is a terrible idea, which it is. I think the coach has his favorite players who are not necessarily the team's best players and that is causing some discord. I am not sure of course, but something is up. I bet you dollars to donuts that Adelman does not like the keep Yao at all costs idea and Les does.
---- Also agree. When our current players are "on" they are so much fun to watch. Why the players/team don't play at their best all the time - I cannot fathom. We have the talent. Frustrating, but I still love this team. FWIW there are only three teams out of the 30 that have so far played 46 games. New Orleans, Portland and Houston. I think our guys look tired many nights - physically and mentally. Plus we are in the toughest division of all -the SW division has teams in 1st, 3rd and 5th place. Utah has a better record than we do - but we hate them. I think that means their players as much as anything. Win or lose I know which team I would rather go to the dance with.
