The update will more than likely show up at the beginning of the season. NFL 2K3 came out with an update about a month after it came out. They have alot to update. They still havent included the Rip Ham/Stackhouse trade. Plus, u know that you have to have XBox Live in order to get the updated roster or you can go to someone's house to download it and save it on a memory card.

I am part of the Beta team. I have had since last month and its really awesome. You have to have a broadband connection in order to get it. It costs $50 and it will be released on Nov. 15 to the public.

Check this site for more info:

Yes there will be an update on PS2 also but you have to have the Modem adapter that are pretty rare to find now because of low production of the product.

I know I'm getting nba 2k3 but I don't know whether to buy a gamecube or a ps2. Do you guys think that the updates would make it worth it, since the ps2 cost 50 bucks more and I'd have to pay extra for that usb thingy. I think I may just end up buying the gamecube.

    Buy something like this:

Stick this sucker into one of your 2 USB ports and hook it up to your broadband connection. Thats the only catch though, you need a broadband connection in order to connect through this method. If you connect through dialup, your SOL until you can get a hold of the adapter.

BTW, the product above can be purchased here:

Maybe I'm very dumb technically. I wouldn't have to disconnect my broadband would? If I have a cable modem all I have to do is hook this thru to a USB port with an ethernet cable & plug the other end into the front of my PS2 right? Then the TV screen is the active monitor not the computer correct? What do you have to do to you computer? Just plug it in? Sorry, I suppose I'm very technically stupid.

There was a roster update for the PS2 last night. The only thing I noticed different about the Rockets lineup was that Walt was gone. Some of the trades for other teams have been put in as well (Stackhouse is with the Wizards now). It was called "Opening Day Test".

    Der Rabbi:
You should be able to just switch the cable to the PS2, if you have problems call your provider, they've probably had the problem before and would know how to fix it. If you want to have them both online at the same time you will have to get a router. You can go to Best Buy and get a DSL/Cable Router for about 50-60 dollars.

    PiPdAdY33:
The main factor is the games available for each system. Think about what games you would be interested in and get the sytem that would allow you to play the most of them. The graphics on any of the current systems are going to be comparable to one another.

The major benefit of NBA2K3 on the PS2 is the online play and roster update. The biggest benefit of the system is the number of games available for it. It can also be a DVD player if you don't have one already.

The controller for the GameCube is nice, it feels very comfortable in your hands. If you are going to play with a lot of players it comes with four controller ports instead of two so you won't have to buy an exra periphial. I also think it has some of the best games available. I don't think online play can be ruled out for the GameCube yet, there are expansion slots and if Nintendo see Sony and Microsoft taking over the market because of online play they may put something out. Of course it won't be any time soon if that does happen though.

Okay heres what you do..U plug the usb adapter into your playstation. Then you take the cat 5 cable thats plug into your network card and plug that into the usb adapter..Reset your cable modem so it can give the ps2 a ip address.THen have your ps2 detect the proxy settings..If your ps2 cant detect the settings then you have to manaully put them in.Then you should be online playing games..

And not every usb adapter is gonna be compatible with the ps2..The only one that i know for sure that is compatible is the linksys usb adapter 100tx model.Hope that helps....

    PS2, or GC? I can't decide...

I just want to play baseball, basketball, football and maybe one other for the change of pace---thus I don't want to spend much on the box...

Get an XBox, they got a good deal going on now. Get an XBox, S-Controller, Jet Set Radio Future, and the DVD Remote, after rebate, at $199. They are not sports games but whenever the the a game is out on all 3 systems, 9 times out of 10, its better on the XBox. :D

Thanks Doc, I think I will buy the Gamecube, probably because I'll eventually end up getting the ps2. I can create Yao Ming on my own and make the other switches I guess, whatever as long as I have my Rockets and Blazers.
