We can't stop dribble penetration. Opposing perimeter players can get any jump shot off they want or get to the basket at will.. It makes our bigs look worse than they are. As much as I love our players, we really need a starting defense oriented starting wing player(I think Battier is past his prime) who helps stabilize our defense.
Holy crap! A post from the future. Because in the space-time continuum that I currently live in, 2 years ago the Rockets had the 4th ranked defense that season despite our best player deciding that he needs to quit. Can you tell me the lottery numbers for any 2011 February drawing? I can use some money.
Which is a really f**ked up way to say it. Why couldn't he have just said, "Since Yao/Deke got injured, the Rockets defense has left the building?" Because it would've pinpointed the time and cause concisely?
Because if I put peoples names they would seem like the most important thing. Where as I wanted to emphasize defense as the most important thing in what I wrote.
that lineup with Rafer/TMac/Battier/Chuck/Deke that won 22 straight, now there was a lock down D lineup combined with a playmaker when you had to have a basket we need to somehow get back to that arrangement
For what feels like the 10,000th time, Rick Adelman teams have generally been GREAT defensive teams. Stolen from TheFreak's sig line: '89-90 Blazers - 4th in D '90-91 Blazers - 3rd in D '91-92 Blazers - 3rd in D '92-93 Blazers - 4th in D '99-00 Kings - 10th in D '00-01 Kings - 7th in D '01-02 Kings - 6th in D '02-03 Kings - 2nd in D Rick Adelman can't magically turn a team full of bad defenders into a good defensive team. Get him some good players and the results will be different.
That record has nothing to do with the current team. Are we automatically to assume that just because he had a good record 10-15 years ago, the same wil happen noiw. Ridiculous. It $h!ts me hard when I see this example bought in favour of Aldeman. It proves nothing. Not having Yao/Deke in the line up doesnt help but its still no excuse for this record. Why does he bother with Hill and Bud so much whent hey get murdered night in and night out? Our D wouild improved immediately if those two were scrapped 3 motnhs ago. Our defense can improve if he establshed JJ+PP+T+Will into the game by now. We have a long "deep" roster and Aldeman still does not punish players for missing assisgnments on D? What does thell you? What does his record 10-15 years ago have anything to do with that? Aldeamn has killed the D on this team. Thats all there is to it.
I think this is the best time to replace our coach. This season is lost and putting someone else in place now will give him a chance to analyze the team, use different line-ups, and then go into the summer knowing what needs to be changed and not have to comepletely familiarize himself with the team. I think we need to get rid of Scola and Battier, who are both great players, but unfortunately our window of opportunity isn't compatible with where they are in their careers. I would also deal Lowry because I feel that he's a contract we'll get stuck with. The only other option I think is acquiring Camby and giving Adelman a chance to turn things around this season.
Defense still exist in this team... Only if you play Lee, Williams, Battier, Jeffries or Patterson and Hayes at the same time . Spoiler I still think offense is more important than defense. You will always win when you're scoring more than your opponent
LMAO..Morey went out & got players Adelman wanted and believes he can win with...without Adelman i hardly think Martin & Miller would be on this team. Adelman beleives in winning with supreme offense and very little defense...this idea may work with if you have the talent to pull it off, but as we all see this year's Rockects team does not...TIME TO GO IN ANOTHER DIRECTION!
Yeah guys Rick Adelman, the guy who coached the best defensive team in Rockets history ('07-'08), is the problem. It's not like we lost two of the best defensive big men in the NBA in the same season. No, that can't be it.
