The fruit of procrastination has tempted me once again. I have a five-page paper over Oedipus The King due tomorrow and need a topic. The instructor just told us to adress the fundamental truth(s) of the play. I've looked online for examples but haven't really found any that fit his criteria. Any help would be appreciated, I'm off to finish reading the play right now.
Possibly, "It is impossible to escape our destiny." Both King Laius and his son Oedipus tried to outwit the oracle's prophecy and, in doing so, ended up playing right into fate's hands. There's also a lot of blindness/sight imagery in the story. You could probably get a pretty good topic going around things like "being blind to our own faults," etc...
Mrs. JB is right. See, you tried to escape your destiny of writing this paper, even though the oracle(your teacher) told you it was due. Instead of being done early and chillin', you have an all nighter coming up. J/K I too am a slave to the sweet fruit of procrastination. What does Steven Wright say, "hard work pays off in the future, being lazy pays off now."
Thanks guys! I think I'll go with your "blind to our own faults" idea, Mrs. JB. That should fill up five pages reeeal quick. Thanks alot!
dude if you've procrastinated this much, you might as well wait until Monday Night Football is over. Than there is Sportscenter, but you can wake up early to watch that...
No problem. I'm a world-class procrastinator myself, so I'm always willing to help out a fellow late starter. Good luck!
Personally, whn I was assigned this task, I went with, "Man, I really want to have sex with my mom." I talked about how she would be showering and I would sneak a peek. I must say, it was a fine piece of work.
