Recently, Rick Adelman has been quoted in the paper as saying he's still unsure of the right mix of players to use. Ideally, he'd like for each player to know when they're going to play as all of his past teams have gotten to that point. Well, it's time for ClutchFans to help him out. What should the rotation be according to you? I want you to fill in three different rotations: Who should be the starters? Who should see PT off the bench? Who should finish the games? If you can, try to avoid generalities (whoever is hot that game should finish the game). While true, I'm looking more for a set rotation that you would feel comfortable using in the majority of games. So ClutchFans -- whose in YOUR rotation?
The only rotation I see is this: 1. Lose a bunch of games 2. Lose fan support 3. Win a big game 4. Fans get optimistic 5. Go back to 1.
1.Who should be the starters? Who should see PT off the bench? Who should finish the games? Starters Kyle Lowry - Pg Kevin Martin - Sg Shane Battier/ Twill - Sf Luis Scola - Pf Chuck Hayes/Hill - C bench Aaroon Brooks - pg Courtney Lee - Sg Twill - Sf Patrick Patterson - Pf Jhill/Hayes Finish Games Aaron Brooks - pg (clutch) Kevin Martin - Sg (clutch) Chase Budinger - Sf Patterson - Pf Hayes - C
Jeffries needs to be in the rotation...situational atleast.. I say play him in the 2nd or 3rd.. great defender..
Prediction: This thread becomes a tanking thread. I hope I'm wrong. Starters Kyle Lowry Kevin Martin Shane Battier Luis Scola Chuck Hayes Note - We're 15-8 with this starting lineup. Some of those wins were during the weak stretch in December, but a fair share of them are against strong teams as well. It's a very balanced starting 5, full of energy and offensive efficiency. Bench Time Aaron CLee Chase 2Pat Hill Notes - Brooks is instant offense off the bench. CBud provides the kind of 3PT% that keeps interior defenses honest. And CLee gives us the same benefits as Chase, but with solid perimeter defense, which we would need if Brooks and Chase are on the floor together. Patrick is the complete package. His offensive efficiency is off the charts and his defensive energy amounts to plenty of defensive stops. Developing him off the bench is the way to go as he truly appears to be the the future of this franchise. Hill off the bench was a touch decision. He is the team's best rim protector and is developing a nice post offense. Giving him time in games is going to go a long way toward developing his in-game decisions and defensive awareness. You'll notice that Brad Miller isn't in any category. This is because I am choosing to develop Patterson at this time. As Miller may be a great in-game teacher for Hill, he is a massive liability on defense and can be almost as effective teaching Hill from both the sidelines and during practice. If we have injuries to bigs, of course Miller is the first person I'd look to to fill in while Hill is on the floor. As well, I would have loved to put TWill in off the bench, but with the depth of our roster and based on games he's already played with us this season, other guys are ahead of him in the rotation until other team transactions are made. He needs playing time, but he isn't going to get it with the team as currently comprised. Game Finishers Lowry Brooks Chase Scola Hayes or Hill Notes - The "Lowry and Brooks combo" is one of our most power offensive weapons late in games. This assures that we have our most clutch player on the court during the 4th (Brooks) and a very capable floor general leading the offense (Lowry). Chase is on the floor to keep defenses honest late in the game as primarily a spot up shooter. Scola is out there as the most efficient post scorer on the team. While Hayes would be the ideal defensive stopper on our opponent's most prolific big. If Hayes isn't available, due to foul trouble or in case he was massively out-played by his counter-part, then Hill steps in as the high energy rim protector that he's been in our most successful games down the stretch.
starters PG: lowry SG: kmart SF: Battier PF: hayes C: scola bench PG: brooks SG: lee SF: bud PF: PP C: hill finishers PG: lowry SG: brooks SF: battier PF: pp C: scola
Fans have been complaining about Adelman's rotations for his entire career as a coach. Also, his substitution patterns and his last play game on the line strategies (which never work). These areas of coaching are apparently NOT is strong suit including any and all in game adjustments which rarely may sense to anyone.
since when was Kyle Lowry a defensive force? Shane, lee, and Hayes are the only defensive "stoppers" we have. Starters: Pg : Lowry ( until ab is ready to take over ) Sg : martin SF : batier pf : scola C : Hayes ( Unless hill goes beast mode every night ) bench : Pg : ab ( until he earns his spot as a starter ) Sg : lee SF : bud if he continues to play well Pf : Patterson C : hill Finish Pg : ab Sg : martin SF : battier Pf : scola C : Hayes ( I almost want to say hill, and in some cases it might work, but gonna stick with chuckwagon for d, rebounding and great passing )
And yet hes been one of the best and most successful coaches in the nba for a while now, and has been doing it with some subpar teams. Great offensive mind, pretty solid defensively ( look at his past teams, and the first couple years with a rockets team that wasn't as soft or undersized as this one ). I blame the lack of execution at the end of games more on the players than on him.
If you're going up against an elite/above avg pg in the final minutes/seconds of a game and you need a stop, would you rather have AB or LOWRY defending the opposing PG?
Starters: Lowry Martin Battier Scola Hayes Bench: Brooks/Lee Lee/TW Burdinger/TW PPat Hill Finish games: Lowry Martin Battier Hill Hayes But it also depends, such as opponent, the players' states. If Brooks is hot, we can let him stay on the court, but I trust Lowry more. We can also have TW to finish the game, but he still needs time, to replace Martin or Battier.
Those Portland and Sactown teams (where RA developed most of his winning rep) were powerhouses or above average at least in terms of talent. He's not exactly been working with the likes of Ryan Bowen his entire career. I find it funny how most of the RA supporters always talk about his past while ignoring the horrible in-game coaching job his done the past two seasons. His teams before were RA teams-front loaded with talent and the 8 man rotation was set in stone, no need to do a lot of in-game coaching just let webber et al. loose and see them play. His teams the past two years were tool-box teams and needed precise and timely subs to make it work. Obviously this isn't his strong suit, which is why he should walk away and find another team this season. It hasn't been a good fit for both.
No set rotations. Some nights he just has to put in who is playing welland take out who is bad. If the other teanm goes on a run? Learn how to not rely on rotations. Learn how to put guys in and call a freaking timeout before the run burns itself out and we lose AN ENTIRE DOUBLE DIGIT LEAD AND THE GAME. When we get down by a few points and the other team is hot? It might be too late at the 50 seconds to go mark in the game. Try winning the fourth quarter earlier besides holding them off for once. Try some non rotations and allow people to either play more minutes because of matchups, to stop runs, to create favorable scoring if we cant score, to create more defense if we cant defend.
Most of all? Keep in who is doing well and take out who is not before the other team tales the lead and the game. Just do that freaking moron. Please you idiotic imbecilic alzheimer's patient.
I don't understand the Kyle Lowry love. Dude is not a starter, but he's great off the bench. I'd much rather have AB starting as he is capable of taking over a game much more so than Lowry, plus AB is better when he is able to get into a rhythm early. This is the biggest problem with Adelman's rotation, playing Lowry over AB, especially late. See the Memphis game last night. AB is in and Rockets propel to a 106-101 lead. Lowry comes in and the Rockets can't do anything down the stretch. At the least, Brooks should be closing these games out.
