Which is why there have been so many OL's, DL's, LB's, etc who have won the title right? Orlando Pace was easily the best player in college when he played, but he didn't have spectacular plays to win.

Name the last Heisman player who didn't have big/highlight plays. Heisman is all about hype, for better or worse. I don't see how you can disagree.

You are crazy if you don't think big-games don't boost or destroy a player's chances of going to the Dowtown Athletic Club.

As for the 4 yard out passes, did you watch the 4th quarter? I would assume so, if you were at the game. There were at least 3-4 short passes that were one-hopped to the WRs and TEs. Regardless, UT was in too big of a hole for those to matter.

Fine, have your 6 TD to 9 INT ratio. Does that suddenly make him a very good QB? No, he still plays subpar when faced against higher-level opposition.

You are grasping for straws if you are using a 6:9 ratio as foundation for an argument in defense of Simms.

    Fine, one. :)

kidrock: I fully agree with what you're saying. Simms needs more hype, but when I use the term Heisman, I'm basically talking about a top player in the country. I'm not talking about actually winning the award, because as you said, there's a lot of politics and hype that go into that.

So you STILL think Simms is among the top 10 players in the nation?

    I don't know if he's a top 10 QB in the nation...

It doesn't make him very good, but it makes him average; not "piss-poor". I don't deny that he hasn't played better in games against lesser competition, but so do most quarterbacks. Considering the system he plays in, playing decent against very good defenses is not a bad accomplishment.

I'm not trying to say that he's mr. clutch, but I am disputing the notion that he's just terrible in big games, or the "anti-clutch".

There's no way Simms is a top 10 player in the nation in terms of production and results.

No. Not sure he's a top ten player in the big 12. Talentwise......

I guess it depends on your definition of clutch...

I view him as a choker, because his stats are a virtual 180 against top 10 caliber teams, compared to what he does against Baylor, UH, etc.

IMO, QB's are either clutch or they aren't. They have the ball in their hands for every offensive play, and are given every opportunity to HELP the team win. I don't think Simms has really ever helped his team win games in the clutch.

QBs are involved in too much of the game for them to be in between clutch and anti-clutch.

Understandably, Simms' and and 90% of QBs for that matter, will have lesser stats against OU, but there's a major difference between being able to throw 25-40 and 350 yards, 4 TD's, and 2 INTs, while losing (basically what Peyton Manning did every year against UF). Manning was considered a choker, despite a decent individual performance.

If he's a choker, then Simms is 10X's the choker Manning is. Sub 50% completion games to go with a plethora of turnovers, and 1 or so TDs over a course of 5 or so big games?

Individually, Simms has yet to step up his level of play, when needed. That defines anti-clutch to me.

I'd like to see your top 10 list then... I imagine stars like Maurice Clarett, Kevin Jones, Jason Gesser, Kelley Washington, etc would take a backseat behind Simms.

Simms isn't even a top 10 QB in the nation.

I would go as far as saying Simms isn't the 10th best player on his team.

I would say that Benson, Roy Williams, BJ Johnson, Sloan Thomas, Derrick Dockery, Derick Johnson, Cory Redding, Nathan Vasher, Rod Babers, and a healthy Scaife and a healthy Kalen Thornton.

Throw in "the daises are out Timmy, not the roses" and it'd be perfect
