Me, too. I'm really hoping they bring in Mumford & Sons this year. I recently (finally) got their album and I can't seem to stop listening to it.
By chance I noticed the Honeybears were on there. I think I heard them and liked em. Bright Eyes will tour separately right? How are the Strokes so famous as to headline? Are they just not big in Texas? Every song they make is the same exact song.
Tickets are already on sale, but they haven't sold single day passes for a couple years. Your only option is to buy a 3 day wristband or nothing at all. http://www.coachella.com/tickets Edit: Never mind, I just noticed that they suspended selling tickets until Jan 21st.
I was holding out for the lineup announcement but still can't decide whether to pull the trigger. my favorite Live Act (Beastie Boys) were not included after being listed in the "rumored" category. I still haven't attended Coachella but love camping festivals...
I like the line-up but its not "MUST GO NOW" worthy. Probably won't spend the money to make the trip. Death From Above 1979 reunion makes me very happy though. Hope thats more than a one-off. But Kings of Leon headlining is ewww. And why are Mumford and Sons so high? ehhh. Brandon Flowers usually only plays like two Killers songs. And one of those is a way slowed down version of Mr Brightside that I don't really like And Late Registration and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy are two of the best albums I've ever listened to. Would love to hear some of the MBDTF stuff love. Have you listened to him past the singles? Go listen to his newest. Even a bunch of my friends that aren't fans of hip-hop at all love it.
I don't see Kanye playing ACL. I just don't think he'd fit. He's more likely to play Lollapalooza and/or Voodoo I would love to see Arcade Fire at ACL as well as Death from Above 1979. I'm really hoping ACL's "big" headliner is Paul McCartney or Radiohead (heard a rumor that it was Radiohead, which would make me happy). I like every song on it. Nothing about it that I'd really change. And it has more than one song that I'd put in consideration for "best song of 2010". Maybe a little overrated (like not a 10/10) but still really really good
Well, considering I live in TN and married, doesn't look like I'll be able to see this. Which is a shame because having Animal Collective play at this is worth going the whole time, IMO. I am ashamed to admit this but I saw ANCO, TV on the Radio, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Bonnaroo in '08 and wasn't impressed with any of them - I was more impressed with Gomez. Oh, how I regret that day. One day, I'll see Animal Collective again and also see Radiohead.
I saw Animal Collective back in 09 when they were touring for MPP and walked away with similar feelings. I traveled to Austin to see them at my favorite venue, Stubb's BBQ. The show was such a major letdown in every aspect, and has really killed my interest in seeing them again. I just think they are one of those bands that doesn't translate well to a live show. Or maybe they just had a REALLY bad day when I saw them. Radiohead on the other hand...yeah, you've got to see them at some point.
You know the funny thing is that everything I have read about them, they are supposed to really put on a great show with weird costumes, bizarro lighting, and all kinds of other effects. However, they might be like many artists - they use the studio as another instrument and by doing this, they won't sound the same live. Bah - who knows?
Wow the dance music lineup looks amazing. All of Swedish House Mafia (Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, and Axwell) are performing. Afrojack, Paul Van Dyk, Fedde Le Grand, Erik Morrilo should be good performances. Too bad Tiesto, Deadmau5, or Daft Punk aren't in the lineup. Last year Deadmau5 had a KILLER set <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9pSz1Hm3Z4k" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>
I gave it a listen and it didn't have much of an effect on me. Maybe I'm just jaded because I think all hip-hop has been horse**** since the turn of the century, and I really, really, really hate autotune. I will probably check out Big Boi's latest though, because I heard it was nice.
Chemical Brothers and Boys Noize make me happy. I complain about KoL but i'd be in the sahara watching the Chems and Boys Noize anyway so I guess it doesnt really matter (judging from the time the Chemical Brothers posted on Facebook, I'm guessing its the Chemical Brothers into Boys Noize) And Boys Noize said he'll have a brand new live set-up at Coachella which sounds awesome
Its interesting how they unmercifully bashed Madonna being in the Coachella lineup years ago (in the dance stage not the main one). But Duran Duran, Prince, and Kanye are at least acceptable additions. I haven't been to a concert in years. It takes way too much thought now than just going to rock out. I GLADLY concede that I don't know what I'm "supposed" to like.
I don't know Harrisment, Muse did rock the $#!+ last year. They really impressed me. Them Crooked Vultures were also awesome. My highlight was Thom Yorke and Flea, though i wish I would have been more sober for that one. I love KoL's first album and the one they made three albums ago was pretty good too. I'm going to have to check out some of the ones I don't know. So far I like Caifanes.
