The only one I know: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.
psalm 5-- 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5 You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.
I may not always love you But long as there are stars above you You never need to doubt it I'll make you so sure about it God only knows what I'd be without you If you should ever leave me Though life would still go on believe me The world could show nothing to me So what good would living do me God only knows what I'd be without you
Me favourite bible verse is quite olde: "And ye shall eat of the vegemite, drink of the Foster's, and lay among the sheep."
I was thinking of a similar one, Proverbs 21:9, which I reference for my wife every once in awhile: "Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife." Also, I've always liked Revelation 3:15-16 for some reason: "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."
I'm more of an Old Testament guy, but some of my favorites: Psalm 31:23 - "Love the Lord, all his saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, but the proud he pays back in full." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 "A Time for Everything" 2 Samuel 12:1-13 David confesses his sin to Nathan - very chilling account of how one of the Bible's greatest heroes was humbled by God Daniel 3:16-18 - "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, 'O Nebuchadenezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.'" Found this today while reading Proverbs right before going to work: Proverbs 5:19 - "A loving doe, a graceful deer - may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love."
was going to post some quotes/verses from the bible that are just purely outrageous and shows the hate the bible has against homosexuals and even women but I'll refrain from doing that.. Also the most cliche and widely used bible verse has to be this one .. 1 Corinthians 13:4 (New International Version, ©2010) 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
Anything from Luke. I believe it's the most often overlooked passages in the bible. Ps: No hottest bible chick thread? Mary, mary magdalene, delilah?
Luke 23:34 Matthew 27:46 Genesis 22:1-24 I like the binding of Issac because there's a parallel with the two testaments. In the old testament, we see a man putting his son to death for God, in the New Testament, we see God putting his son to death for mankind. Another thing that just occured to me, the Jews are God's chosen people but God almost kills them, not once but twice! We all know the time when they're wandering around in the desert, and they worship the cow, he almost kills them then. But before, in the Binding of Issac, all jews descend from Issac, but God tells Abraham to kill Issac!
Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
