If it is the team I support, ie my team, I say "We." I support and am a fan of the Rockets, so I say- "We suck." "We lost" a lot lately.
I try to said "rockets" or "they" all the time, but sometimes I say "we" because is shorter. but in the toyota center, when they introduce the starting lineup they say: "Here it is the starting lineup of "YOUR" Houston Rockets!!!!" So that would be wrong too, because technically they are not mine. So its the same, "its your team" so you can say "we".
Without WE, the fans, how do you suppose the Rockets organization make money to pay the players? Through sponsorship for example? Okay, and so what is the reason the sponsors would want to advertise through the team? So we, the fans can buy their ****... They make money because of we, the fans. So is it safe to assume that we and the Rockets are one? I'd say... YUP...
I just had a look at an old conversation i had about a recent game with a friend of mine... I started off with "Watched Houston throw away a 16 point lead" Ended with "We smashed them up in the 3rd and then let them score 31 in the 4th" I think once the person knows I'm talking Rockets i start referring to them as "Us" or "We" etc.
I say we when talking to friends etc. It just sounds weird to say "hey the Rockets won." Sounds strange...
We, always. I have a lot of emotional and financial investment on this franchise so to me it will always be "We"
discussing the rockets with someone who isn't part of the "we": then I use "the rockets" but if I'm talking to my roommate who is a fan, then I use "we"
I use we, I am going to support my teams my whole life long (barring their moving). Way I see it, sure the players and management can directly help with winning and losing. But some of those folks are going be traded or change organizations, but my allegiance is 41 years and counting.
When talking to another fan I typically use We... when talking to someone else I typically say My Rockets. Edit: I just realized this is thread necromancy
