Only thing good about Chase, is their ATM's and Android/Iphone App that lets me deposit checks. Everything else, sucks.
I need to take my business from Chase but the fact that they have all of my statements in pdf file available to me online for both of my accounts since the day I opened them 4 years ago keeps me around. I'm a horrible record keeper.
I'm pretty clueless on credit unions any good ones I should look in to? Are they local only or are there multi-state type credit unions? I probably won't be going out of texas that much but I would like the option of going to locations if needed. yeah i am poor  but its not just a direct deposit it has to be an offical one from a business or ssi. my job is a small office and i get handed checks so no go there thanks for that
so, does that have to be a $500 direct deposit? Or minimum total of $500 through the month in direct deposits?
Dude! Rep'd. I completely forgot about that. I was upset about the app didn't let me transfer etc. It's a new phone, and I didn't think of pressing the settings buttom (samsung phone). Freaking awesome, I have no need for my local bank now. (no Chase in the area I live in....unless I drive to Longview or Houston) 1 ATM 20 min away. This is a great feature.
Would not be the first time I have heard that Chase charges WTF fees. A friend of my father found that Chase was overcharging him and wise wife on fees by $0.03 per month. Not much, right? Come to think of it, how do think Chase became so rich and powerful?
it has to be ONE official direct deposit and cant be two separate ones that add up I BELIEVE...and you cant do bs like direct deposit from one account you have to another
**** Credit Unions: I am getting raped in NSF fees because they are holding on to my last deposit for an extra 2 days rather than posting it like BoA would.
thanks for the info. Will be closing my Chase account and moving to capital one by the end of the month.
I don't know what you guys are b*tching about, I love Chase Bank. I just opened a new checking account with them, and got 25,000 Continental OnePass miles for doing so. I also opened a Chase Continental Airlines MasterCard, and got an additional 30,000 Continental OnePass miles. Thanks to Chase Bank, I'm flying from Chicago to Istanbul, and back, nonstop both ways, for free.
I have a checking account at Compass. Out of curiousity, I checked their website: A change is gonna come...
Note to others: Banks are a decade ahead of credit unions when it comes to ATMs. Update: The 4x$30 NSF fees are my fault, but it bites my pockets hard when they do not acknowledge that I deposited $13,000 on Friday to cover my weekend costs. I am going back to a real bank.
Don't forget to put your 500 bucks in the bank or they will charge you 12 bucks a month. Checking should be FREE, that's why we are b****ing... First page I was the one saying I have no problem with chase; Just got the letter stating that checking will no longer be free... Wells Fargo also sent me a similar letter stating there will no longer be free checking with them, unless I meet the monthly criteria. I think I'm going to be forced to close all my checking accounts, use all my points, move my money to Ally or ING and just use credit cards exclusively paying them off every month. I think ING and Ally have free checks, no fees, and waive those miscellaneous charges when you use ATMS. Anyone bank with Bank of America; are they also doing away with free checking?
Never had a problem with Chase (besides their website going down for 3 days a few months ago). Their online banking is simple and fast. They have an ATM on every corner. You can deposit a check at the ATM without even filling out a deposit slip. All deposits are credited when you make them - even ATM check deposits. I've tried online banks and it takes a day just to move money from one account to the other. With Chase, it takes about a second. And you can do it as often as you want. I've tried the local Credit Union here at work and their online banking was pretty much non-existent. They didn't even have a bill-pay option. Their deposits take 48 hours just to show up and longer than that to become available. Also, they have very short hours and don't allow ATM deposits. My company has direct deposit, so there's really no reason for me to leave Chase unless I just want to rage against the man and leave just because it's a big bank. But if I did that, I'd be cutting off my nose to spite my face.
