Mercury Rev eh? Right now I'm checking out Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Panda Bear - Person Pitch Deerhunter - Microcastle LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca
Yes! Their style has even kind of followed the same path as the Flaming Lips. "Boces" and "Yerself is Steam" are their "Transmission" and "Clouds Taste Metallic." "Deserter's Song" is their "Soft Bulletin." "All is Dream" is the most underrated album of the past decade in my opinion, so yeah, I'm a pretty big fan. Unfortunately their last two albums have been kind of meh. They are also the band with the best "hidden track" of all time! "Number 2 has got me confused, hope I'll always be your numbers 1 and 3." Hey folks, sad that this is my first post in the hangout but I want to share this darling song of mine in memory of Trish Keenan, the front-woman of Broadcast who passed away today. Here’s an exquisite pop song: May her soul rest in peace.
Wow, I saw she was in the hospital this morning. She was too young. RIP I remember Jason Pierce of Spiritualized almost died of complications from pneumonia a few years ago.
Good pick! Have all their stuff on my puny 30 gig Zune. Tell me - what is your favorite album by them? Today: Daniel Johnston - Fun Sun City Girls - Midnight Cowboys From Ipanema The Residents - Eskimo Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
The Radio Dept. - Clinging To a Scheme Tough Alliance - A New Chance Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do
I can't really seperate them. I like them all for different reasons. But if I had to recommend someone one of their albums I would go with 23. Btw I'm going to see them play live in February
Yea, 23 is my favorite by them and the one I have listened to the most. I really need to try to listen to their earlier stuff again.
Listening to a lot of old Shel Silverstein for a show. "Freakers Ball" and "Hairy Jazz" and the "Twistable Turnable Man" Tribute album with Black Francis, Andrew Bird, Todd Snider and others. Also Listening to the "Dope And Glory" set. I really like that Decemberists cover Of "Row Jimmy" I've been listening to that a lot lately.
