So let me get this straight: after drafting Favors and watching Kris Humphries surprisingly emerge as a serious rotation player (both at the four spot), the idea here is the Nets trade their franchise center for a 30-year-old PF? Carmelo or not, this move does nothing for the Nets. Absolutely nothing.
Not saying this deal has ANY chance of happening but they wanted Scola bad in the offseason and would have signed him to nice juicy contract had Morey not jumped on Luis first. Kris is having a nice season but dude can't score and is an expiring deal. If they get Melo, Favors will be in Denver, so do you think they'd want Kris FREAKING Humphries as their starting PF or more importantly would Melo want that over Scola? This is wishful thinking but from the Scola perspective, they would like to acquire him, no doubt.
Maybe if the Melo trade materializes we can talk about this Scola-for-Lopez idea carrying some sort of merit or logic from the Net's perspective. Until then, this idea is nothing more than delusional wishful thinking.

This deal makes sense but at the same time it doesn't. Lopez would be a HUGE add to this roster, a 7ft athletic two way C, not many of those in the league available(not saying BL is available) but honestly I think Nets could get a better package from another team. New Jersey did show a lot of intrested in scola tho, and scola hasn't had a bad year. He's in his prime, exactly what melo needs around him experienced players. I'd do this trade as soon as it became available. I actually met Avery Johnson like two years ago at the Galleria. I recognized his voice(raspy high pitched) he was with his kid, dood was sitting inside the store with sunglasses on. As I made my way out I stopped and said to him Avery your not fooling anyone, he grinned and asked if I was going to ask for an autograph, I looked at him and said "No I'm a rockets fan, just wanted to say good luck with your next team" he didn't respond. If anything he was offended, he had just been fired from the Mavs. Doods persona screams D-bag.
Like I've always said, Avery Johnson's only real asset as a coach is his near-miraculous ability to talk his way into head coaching positions.

Imagine getting Lopez to play along with Lee and T-Will in the starting line up. It would be 3/5 of the near record-breaking 09-10 Nets.
