...used a pay phone? at least 10 years...seriously

...used a phone book instead of the internet when looking for a phone listing? probably within 5-6 years ago at my mom's house?

...used a road map instead of GPS? 4 years ago driving through North Carolina.

...paid for gas with cash at the counter instead of paying at the pump? I have absolutely no idea about this one. Mid-90s?

...mailed an actual personal letter to someone via USPS instead of email? I mailed xmas cards this past December. I mailed a letter to a friend (hand-written!) last November.

...used a VCR? Several years ago I took an old VHS tape of my band playing a show at Emo's to a buddy's house to remind myself why I'm no longer in a band.

These are interesting questions. I hope others share.

used a pay phone? - I would have to guess around 10 years.

...used a phone book instead of the internet when looking for a phone listing? - This is easy, we use the school phone book all the time for my kids...say 2 days here.

...used a road map instead of GPS? - Maybe a year ago, we used one around Napa in the wine country.

...paid for gas with cash at the counter instead of paying at the pump? - Still do that occassionally....but only when the CC thingy is out at the pump. :)

...mailed an actual personal letter to someone via USPS instead of email? - Over 12 years easy....

...used a VCR - last week, I still have some old Houston Oiler and Rocket games on tape.

...used a pay phone? - Called to get a ride home from my job at the carwash when the office phones were all taken. Probably 1998.

...used a phone book instead of the internet when looking for a phone listing? - In March, when I turned my air conditioner on and it didn't work.

...used a road map instead of GPS? - New Year's Day. My GPS was stolen from my car, and I haven't replaced it yet.

...paid for gas with cash at the counter instead of paying at the pump? - Tuesday. I pay cash for most things, most of the time

...mailed an actual personal letter to someone via USPS instead of email? - 2006. I was dating a girl that really liked sending and receiving letters. She'd write me letters, and I write her back. Handwritten, too.

...used a VCR? - 2008. I was working at a job, I led a safety meeting, and all of our safety videos were on VHS.

I don't use GPS for the most part. I will usually print a map off the internet to use.

I use the VCR pretty regularly because my kids have a couple of movies we inherited on VHS that they like.

Pay phone, map - it's been years.

Paid inside last month- a gas station I stopped at in AR didn't have pay at pump slots. Weirdos.

    VCR- over a decade.

Mail- nothing except the local utilities. It's that or pay $1 "convenience fee" to their crappy online pay.

Phone books are a different animal. Many small businesses have a horrible, if any, online presence. Want a plumber? You'll find more local hits in the yellow pages than online.

To be fair though, you live in Canada, and Canada Post sucks worse than the DMV.

I still use paper maps on occasion. I get a better 'feel' for an area and routes then I do on a monitor or a GPS screen. And my routing is sometimes better then the one suggested by the algorithm nerds at garmin. Plus I like laying out a map and seeing the whole area.

On our latest road trip, I printed out maps for the kids, and they tracked our progress as we went -- which cut down, somewhat, on the 'are we there yet' chorus.

I also use mapquest, google and the GPS.

And the pumps in the US won't take my credit cards (no zip code), so I have to pay at the counter.

We still have a VCR by the TV. My wife insists we use it....but it hasn't been connected since September and she hasn't noticed, so I'm guessing we don't.

and I used a pay phone from Mexico in December. Room charge -- $6 call plus LD; Cell charge $5/min roaming; Payphone in lobby -- $0.20 min calling card FTW.

Ah yes, good old VHS flix. Nothing like leaving the tape in the VCR then getting a the most awkward "talking to" of your life.
