shows some of it, starting at 1:00: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQ1SurVZ94E?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQ1SurVZ94E?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Well, the first pair was unusual because he hit two guys at the same time. He probably should have T'ed up one and left it at that. Don't know what the coach said about it, but I imagine he was pretty mad about the unusual double-T, so he probably said something worth getting booted over. The last one, the ref probably should have let slide given what just happened, but it wasn't exactly a bad call given the policy. So, I'd say 3.5 out of 5 techs were legit.
The techs on Darko and Brewer in that video were weak. You could T someone up every game for that type of reaction.
Here is a vid in real time: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_fm2WxX6vtw?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_fm2WxX6vtw?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
T-wolves don't need wins right now anyway. But, having watched the video, the twin technicals to start the mess were a bit baffling, but Love definitely earned T #5.
I hated this new rule when it was first implemented and I hate it now...There's no leeway for emotion at all unless you're a superstar.
Exactly - superstars can still do whatever they want. I can't stand the preferential treatment superstars get.
LOL you got me . I created this account in 2002 just to support the Refs. Watching the actual video, you would think a little more leeway be given near the end. But having watched plenty of games where it degrades to players just whining and moaning on each and every play about not getting a call. It just flows better.

With all these T's flying around I'm just waiting for this to happen again. LOL! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/mSVtZWH41dc?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/mSVtZWH41dc?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I wouldn't want to make 20,000 fans angry by calling a tech on Kobe. If I'm an official I would try to look the other way rather than have all the fans hate me. I don't think I would get fired either because star players sell the show so the league wouldn't care. I think Ken Mauer was baiting the coach. If I'm an official and I know a coach is mad at me I wouldn't be next to him. Try to diffuse the situation.
You don't think 20,000 fans were angry about that 5T's bs? The referees get word from above to keep the superstars happy.
I hardly watch the NBA anymore and the reffing is one of the major reasons. Actually, the major reason.
If a team were to get 5 T's in one game, it's better to do it all at once so the other team only gets the ball once.. beating the system!
There is a big St. Paul Minneapolis rivalry so maybe he was just upset that the T-Wolves were playing the same time as the Wild.
Ken Mauer looks like he went to the Pat Riley styling school. I'm guessing he won't be doing any ads for Mauer Chevrolet.
