Way to go. They need to pay Griffin and Gordon. It makes more sense for them not to match a big offer to DeAndre Jordon. I say we throw 55 million/5 years to DJ.
getting kaman is a no-brainer. proven and solid player. he will do. i just wonder what centers will be available come february.
Really, the last thing I want is to pick up another player that, when describing him, we begin with the words "when healthy". When healthy Yao is arguably the best center in the league. Look where that got us. I think someone like Serge Ibaka would be nice. Young, athletic, and with good size. Averaging 2 blocks in a little over 20 minutes. Don't see that happening though.
Shane and Brad Miller for Kaman and in the same day scola and chase for thompson and casspi. Send hill to the d-league.
With Kaman and Scola out there together flopping and spinning and gyrating, Id be willing to bet Brad Miller gets out his fishing poles like he's salmon fishing and sees if he can catch one of those ugly boys.
5. Western Conference The optimism from rival teams heard this week about the Los Angeles Clippers making 2010 All-Star Chris Kaman available before the Feb. 24 trading deadline -- thanks to the fast-moving rise of Blake Griffin's buddy DeAndre Jordan -- was echoed Thursday by a source familiar with the Clips' thinking. But there is a disclaimer: L.A. is saying, at least for now, that it is likely to keep Kaman through the deadline unless moving him results in a clear upgrade at small forward. An upgrade with a reasonable contract, that is. That presumably rules out a move for the long-term deals of Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala or Charlotte's Gerald Wallace. Detroit's Tayshaun Prince, with an expiring contract valued at $11.1 million, fits the Clips' parameters far better, but the Pistons -- despite their longstanding fondness for the former Central Michigan center -- could well lack the financial flexibility they'd need themselves to take in Kaman (owed $12.2 million in 2011-12) until the sale of the team goes through (as mentioned in Box 3). One of the other factors that makes things tricky: Kaman has been sidelined for all but 10 games this season by a badly sprained left ankle and the Clips would prefer to see how a Kaman/Jordan/Griffin frontcourt rotation looks at full strength before deciding Kaman is superfluous. The Clips, though, might not get much evaluation time before the deadline arrives, with Kaman bound to attract outside interest whether he's fully healed or not. What's clear is that Jordan's in-house stock has risen dramatically and that maintaining the financial flexibility to re-sign him, with restricted free agency looming in July and the threat of big offer sheets that they'd have to match, is high on the Clips' to-do list. The fact that Jordan and Griffin got so friendly over the summer -- with the added benefit of lifting Jordan's on-court productivity -- only makes keeping them together more of a priority. http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydi...14-16/howard-qa ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clippers seem to be seeking a SF upgrade with an expiring contract... Shane Battier would fit the description...
Since Dec 1st, the clipps have the best opp fg% if I'm not mistaken. If they get a sf like Tayshaun, they could be a dangerous team. Another name to watch out for is Chandler.
http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/71162/20110115/clippers_would_trade_kaman_for_small_forward/ The Clippers are open to dealing center Chris Kaman prior to next month's trade deadline, but they may only do so for a clear upgrade at small forward. Also, Los Angeles wants that player to have a reasonable contract. Kaman has been sidelined for all but 10 games this season with a badly sprained left ankle. Potential trade targets like Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala and Charlotte's Gerald Wallace may be ruled out because of their contracts. Detroit's Tayshaun Prince has an expiring contract. It's crazy how under valued this guy is. 3 years ago, when he was healthy, he averaged 15.7 pts, 12.7 rebs, and 2.8 blks. He was injured the following year, but came back last year to average 18.5 pts, 9.2 rebs, and 1.2 blks. People can hate on him all they want, but he can pretty easily get 17/10/1.5 when he heals from injury. I know he has been "injury prone", but we are the one team in the league that can afford to have injury prone players because of our depth. He is also a tremendous bargain at $12 million per year and his contract comes off the books after next season. This is a win-win situation and honestly I would trade a package starting with Jordan Hill + Chase + T.Will/Lee (even brooks if required) + fillers. He definitely won't be cheap to get, but this is our best shot at getting somebody like him.
