Obviously, it depends on what we get in return, but I'd rather keep him.

This game was awesome for us AOFs. Finally a new scapegoat for our team! Aaron scores 25, Kmart has a sore vagina, and we win. What better feeling could a fan of the Rockets have? Ship Kevin Martin's ass out of here! I hope this injury turns out to be career ending! I hate him so much for not playing tonight. Aaron should be doing all of our scoring! Trade stupid Kevin Martin and his broken vagina! WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

if we can get a more balanced Offensive defensive guy then yes trade him
cause seriously the guy can put 50 points and let 50 or more be scored on him

If we can get a defensive center or a somewhat all-star/star caliber player in return, yes we should trade him. Other than those options, no we shouldn't trade him.

I saw this thread coming from a MILE away.............!! I didn't think it would be til this morning though.H-E-L-L......N-O we shouldn't trade Kevin Martin. Guys that average 23+ Like Martin and guys that average close to 20/10 like Scola DEMAND much bigger contracts on the open market. We have them at a bargain.

I agree that Martin is a horrible defender, but when you list players that can score you should not include Hill or Pat just yet. Pat is playing well, Hill is still a too inconsistent, and this season Bud has been inconsistent as well.

I would love to trade Martin, I feel he would bring alot back in return from a team like Phoenix. I am not sure how this could work but getting Gortat from Phoenix would be really nice.

You only and I mean only trade him if you are getting a superstar in return....or a young upcoming star....i.e.....Ellis maybe??!!

I would like to pair him with a legit SF that can score and defend......i.e. Granger/Iggy (both wont happen)..

The thing most likely to happen is that he stays and we let another key guy walk like Scola/lowry/Battier.......IT IS WRITTEN.

I disagree, Kmart is great at what he does, but it masks some serious flaws in his game, like defense for instance, or how his flopping disrupts the normal flow of a game and takes touches away from other players.

I like him, he is incredibly efficient, but if he is your leading scorer, your team is probably not really good.

If they could trade him for a very good Center for instance, he would be gone in a flash, as we have other wings that probably fit in better in a balanced team.

Trade Martin? It all depends on what we get in return.

key word here is "efficient".....that is one of the overall factors in evaluating a player right??He is that and even if he doesnt show that killer instinct needed to close games as a super star should he is still very valuable and reliable still. He would shine as a option 1b on this team......But we need that other player ,NOW!! GET IT DONE MOREY......IT IS WRITTEN.

Im still not convinced we need a dominant Center but a servicable one that can hold down the middle with defense and rebounds....leave the scoring to the guards and PF..THEY DO THAT PRETTY WELL ALREADY.....IT IS WRITTEN.

Exactly. I always hate posts that say trade player x, that have zero input on what they expect to get back in return. Nobody on this team should be untradeable if it improves the team, but you don't look to trade guys just for the sake of getting rid of them either.

If you trade Martin, Yao, Brooks, Hill, and Budinger for Carmelo, Chauncey, and Birdman who do you have on the books for 2012? Just Lowry, Scola, the 2011 draft pick, Lee, Williams, Patterson, Birdman, and Brad Miller, who is only partially guaranteed for that year I believe.

Let's say, just for fun, Carmelo agrees to an extension with us. Wouldn't you have the ability to sign Dwight Howard and Chris Paul to play with him?

    2012 Lineup
    PG: Paul/Lowry
    SG: Lee/2011 draft pick?
    SF: Anthony/Williams
    PF: Scola/Patterson
    C: Howard/Birdman
That team is better than the Heat.

Anyway, this seems like a plan you could sell Melo and the others on. In 2012 the West will be less with Kobe and Dirk being 34, and Duncan and Manu will be 36. Nothing would stop us from playing the Heat in the finals every year.

Sure, we're not NYC or even Miami, but we are the 4th biggest city in America and we have no state income tax. I see no reason why Melo, Dwight, and Paul wouldn't want to play here.

Sad to say it, but I don't think he fits our team right now. His defensive liability is just part of the problem. He is a pure, efficient scorer. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all he is. Our back-court is pretty packed right now. AB and Lowry cover the point. Lee and T-Will cover SG (considering Martin was to go) and Bud and Battier cover SF (with T-Will covering some minutes here). Yes, we will be losing some scoring from the back court, but I think we currently have way to many assets that do not add up to an elite team. Letting go of him with some of the other assets (draft picks, Hill) may get us something more effective in the middle, and that's something that's been messing our chances up in recent times.

And I think Lee is being underused just because he has Martin ahead of him...he should be able to develop his game given the opportunity. Same goes for Williams too.

Letting go of Martin is going to be hard, but we should hopefully get something better using him.
