Its at the bottom of the article. http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/sn/20000723/sp/anderson_might_bypass_denver_slide_to_san_antonio_1.html Sunday July 23 07:13 PM EDT Anderson might bypass Denver; slide to San Antonio By Dave D'Alessandro - The Sporting News Derek Anderson, eager to jump the Clippers' ship, is telling friends that he'll probably pass on a sign-and-trade offer from Denver and accept San Antonio's middle class exception. . . . Jerry West returned from his Alaska vacation to report that the week away hasn't changed his outlook about retirement. In short, he's burned out: "Everything around here has taken its toll," the Lakers boss told the L.A. Times. "You see my outside, but you don't see my inside, and it's just awful in there. This compulsion with winning, it's a sickness." . . . The Raptors, reeling from the loss of secondary star Tracy McGrady, have prioritized their free agent bids this way: Rashard Lewis, Austin Croshere and Cuttino Mobley. And they have $5.5 million in cap room to use as the jump-off point for a long-term deal. . . . Biggest fall of the free agent market? Probably Maurice Taylor. A year after agent David Falk had predicted that he'd max out, most GMs predict Mo will have to settle for somebody's exception slot. . . Like many teams, the Magic misjudged the highest possible first-year salary for free agents such as McGrady and Grant Hill -- it's $9.5 million, and not $9 million. So they found themselves a half-mil shy of being able to give Hill and T-Mac the requisite jump-off point, and in order to make it to $19 million under the cap by August 1, they were likely to renounce Ben Wallace. . . . How bad was Marcus Camby's right knee in the last postseason? Doctors orders were not to run on it after his MRI following the playoffs, and he has since been instructed to wait until late August to begin running. The Nets have already announced that Kerry Kittles is out for the year following knee surgery, so they have targeted Ron Mercer as the potential replacement at two-guard. . . . At the end of last week, Tim Thomas was deciding between Detroit and Milwaukee, while Mobley was leaning toward staying in Houston, mostly out of loyalty to the only team that seemed to want him a year ago, and out of desire to team up with Steve Francis as the two enter their formative years. ------------------ "Get up, stand up. Great news. I didn't think Cuttino was that selfish. The only thing that makes me wonder about their credibility is saying that Tim Thomas was deciding between Detroit and Milwaukee. Yeah, that certainly turned out to be the case. ------------------ http://www.saveourcuttino.com
Yeah, Bobo. Good catch. Hopefully things pan out and Mobley will stay in Houston! (after all, we can trade him later. ) ------------------ Just shut up and post
Nice post Boob Yeah but i have read elsewhere that Thomas is just about a lock to head to the Bulls. ------------------ Stuff BBS, the Rockets and you guys It's all Clippers these days, come join the bandwagon and visit http://www.ClippersCity.net
We may actually need mobley, i mean at least for "francis morale", he's like Stevie's left...elbow. Know Cat=Know Love No Cat=No Love. ------------------
After Mobley got hammered for a week for saying it's "50-50", I wonder how many "golly geepers we love cat he is so loyal" posts are going to pop up after this one... ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
not me! mobes is a ball hog! go to Canada! ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
It's good to see that Mobes has friends to look out for him: THANK YOU STEVE FRANCIS! (Sidenote: I know this comment should be made in the NBA Dish Section, but anybody else think that the Faker$ are toast if San Antonio gets Derek Anderson?) ------------------ WE WILL WATCH THEM FALL... Next year [This message has been edited by AntiSonic (edited July 23, 2000).]
I'll knock on wood for Mobley.....and, uh, no, Antisonic. ------------------ "I'll take a Dream Shake for two, please."
Antisonic- yes, I feel the same way. Not just because I hate the Fakers, but Derek Anderson will make the Spurs a really good team IMO. ------------------ http://www.saveourcuttino.com
Anti, Derek will definitley improve the Spurs, but I'm still not sure if they can take it all. Of course, not taking it all does not mean they won't beat the Lakers. With Duncan back, the Twin towers are custom made to give L.A the toughest matchup. But there are too many uncertainties surrounding the team still. Even though he isn't known to be a great pg, Avery Johnson has been the floor general of that team and losing him without a dependable backup to replace him will hurt. As will Ellie's likely departure. I'm not sure if Elliot will retire or not, but I can't see him playing anything near to what he did two seasons ago. The Admiral is going to be year older. As far as I can remember, asides for Antonio Daniels and maybe Samaki Walker, what young talent does SA have to replace these players? Don't get me wrong, I think they will be contenders, but they won't be better than last years team (with Duncan healthy), IMHO. Anyways, sorry for getting off-topic (Mango), and great scoop Bob*. It may not confirm anything, but it at least gives us hope, and will give all those negative anti-mobley threads a break. Azim da Dream ------------------ We don't live for the destination. We live for the journey.
If we are not getting Rashard I want Cuttino on this team. With Shandon, Mobes, and Francis we definitely have the best and deepest back court. Why give up on something like that? ------------------
I never understood why Mobley would find Toronto so amazingly attractive (just name me any other free agent who voluntarily went North of the border). Thanks for the link Bob!! I'll be thrilled if we can keep Cuttino in a Rockets uniform (he plays with heart, has a great work ethic and is blossoming as a player now). ------------------
uhhhh Charles Oakley. uhhhh Grant Long. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
