According to Swamplot three successful Houston restaurants will be setting up new locations in the Heights in the next six months. Here they are, and my rankings on their significance. #3 - Christian's Tailgate is the one with the least fanfare. To me they are still close enough to enjoy their food. They will be at 2820 White Oak. #2 - Tacos a go-go has been very successful on Main for the last few years, and I'm looking forward to their new location at 2912 White Oak. This should be a much easier location to get to. #1 - Hubcap Grill. For those who aren't aware, this place is just a pain in the ass to get to currently. If you don't work in downtown it simply isn't worth it, as good as their burgers are. And their taco truck has a far too limited menu. This will be a place I show up to within a week of opening. It will be in the former Mi Cocina Victor's cafe at 1133 W. 19th street. And what is it about the Heights wanting to "keep errthing real?" Are y'all really trying to keep these places out of there? http://twitter.com/#!/Hubcap_Grill/status/29117521114 Regardless, they are coming. And Houston overall will be better for it. EDIT: Not sure why that twitter link isn't hyperlinking.
Thanks for the info. I live just west of the Heights, in Timbergrove, so I'll probably be giving them a shot sometime.
Hubcap really is the best burger in town, but their downtown location is small and hard to go to even if you do work downtown. I've seen a Hubcap Grill food truck parked on Washington several times and have always wanted to try it. It will be nice to have a larger location.
Let's grab lunch sometime. I've been wanting to try Moon Tower Inn recently. http://www.houstonpress.com/2010-10-21/music/moon-tower-inn/
There is nothing in the Heights man. Except some cool places. Which means you gotta go there... just for the cool places. No other reason to ever go there. I don't get it. Still wanna try that Jus Mac place.
