The question is... Would Morey offer around or close to a max contract for Gasol? Not sure how much Memphis has to spend but it would take significant dollars for Memphis not to match and accept a sign n trade.
I think where they are trying to draw comparisons are: - an experienced Vet - defensive specialist - limited offensively and would most likely be picked up by a contender looking for that final piece (Lakers - Ron Artest, Spurs - Bruce Bowen etc.)
Darryl Morey list of objectives regarding Free Agency: 1. Resign our players on the cheap this year 2. Gasol (Not likely) because the grizz wont let another Gasol out of their grasp 3. Jeff Green (most likely) a very interesting situation is going to unfold in okc this offseason. Lots of young talent that is eventually going to ask about the big check, and very player wants the big check. Question is, does okc give Green the green? Dont think so, so Houston fans get ready for your future allstar and his name isnt Trevor Ariza. 4. DeAndre Jordan (Not likely) he is exactly what we need at the 5, but he is exactly what everyone else needs at the 5 as well. And he is restricted 5. Resign Yao. He wont play much but can you imagine Yao on another team other than the red and white? 6. Greg Oden? Just sayin hes a force when healthy Lets get out Red Toyota Tundras started because its a long drive to Oklahoma City
For the right amount of money, I'd sign Duncan. (But I'm like 10000% sure he isn't leaving SA). Aging? Yes. Can still ball? Hell yes. Sure, he's averaging 14 and 9 now, but he would be a great fit at the 5 on this team. Lowry Martin Battier Scola Duncan
