Actually, the shell does add quite a bit of flavor.

Made a few minor modifications to the above recipe:

Added a lot more seasoning in the water.
Added crushed garlic along with whole garlic
Added orange zest as well (prolly overkill)
    Definitely add bay leaves!

The only mistake I made was I left the shrimp on boil for more then 3 min. I had never done this before and didn't think shrimp would cook in three min. Left it on for five min and then added a bucket full of ice into the water and let it simmer for another five min. In the future let it only boil for three min and add even more ice to stop the cooking process. The shrimps were just a tad bit overcooked.

Trying with crabs next week, but don't know where to get king crabs in houston. Any suggestions?

Honestly, that's awesome that you sought out a recipe found one and were able to make an awesome meal on your first try. When I try new recipes the first time, I almost always realize how to make it good my second go around.

I still slightly alter my chili recipe almost every time I cook it.

This is the first time when a recipe actually turned out excellent for me. I usually get it right the second time too.

For the past two weeks I've been doing nothing but looking up videos and recipes on how to boil seafood.

Boiling seafood is so easy, it would be hard to do it wrong. Just have to keep a strict eye on the timing the actual seafood is in the boil.

I never knew shrimp didn't have an "s" afterwords. My English teacher of a wife would not be proud.

Read somewhere that its much better to leave the shell on if boiling so as not to overcook it. Plus the shell leaves the shrimp juicy and moist from inside. Also, much like a crawfish you can suck the head (Yes Swoly...we know) of the shrimp and its awesome!

Its just to add a citrusy flavor. I sure as hell am not adding $10 worth of quality oj in a boil.

Thats weird to say the least. How can anyone "hate" lemons?

And you can't have a quality cajun seafood boil without lemons.

Wait'll she sees how you spelled "afterwards". And the plural of shrimp can be either "shrimp" or "shrimps", but most people I think use "shrimp". "Shrimps" just sounds goofy.

    Oh it was on again!

Dungeness crab! Couldn't stomach throwing a live one in boiling water so bought it fresh and had it cleaned.

    Bye bye poor crabby! :(

    Everything boiling.

Overcooked the hell out of the potatoes this time, got some weird ass corn from the Asian market that was not very good. But man the crab turned out damn good! Spicy as hell!! :(

Whatever it was, it sucked. Can't believe I overcooked the hell out of the potatoes either, but the crab turned out just perfect.
