The playoff points don't count in this total. That's regular season scoring only.

This. And only if he doesn't pull a Jordan type of retirement (the second one).

If Kobe can accept a dimished role toward the end of his career and play till he's 40 he's got a good shot at No.2 who shall remain namelss and a slim chance to overtake Kareem.

I just noticed that Chief Parish is on this list at No. 19 even though he never averaged more than 20 ppg in any year of his career. It shows you how important longevity is to making this list.

I know it is way early, but I feel like calculating how much Kevin Durant needs to average, and for how long, to reach top 5.

if Kobe averages 25ppg for 3 more seasons, he'll pass Jordan. Jordan averaged 28ppg at age 35 and 22ppg at age 39. Jordan won 3 championships at ages 32-35. Kobe is 32. If Kobe doesn't get injured, he will easily pass Jordan and finish at #3.

if Kobe plays until he's 40 and averages 20ppg each season, he will pass Kareem and finish as the all-time scoring leading at #1.

I believe Iverson was on a role before he tanked and LEbron very well could be.

Kobe will finish shy of number 1. he won't have the energy or the coaching staff to let him continue to put up those numbers 5-6 years from now.

but for some awesome reason if he comes out next year scoring 35 a game, that would be incredible.

Lebron is going to finish a good range at number 1 with somewhere in the mid 40's and maybe 50'000 points.

Lebron has begun reinventing his game in miami, he shoots. And he's becoming pretty good at it too and probably will get those looks because of wade's ability to dominate and call attention.

Lebron already has 16.5, and with playoffs, nearly 19,000 and he just turned 26. hes so far ahead of the curve that hes def going to finish on top. he might even become a fat PF towards the end of his career and just dunk and hit bank shots to keep it up.

I'm with everyone else that'll he'll get to number 3. He definitely won't let himself finish under Shaq.

I think the most interesting part of this list is that it says Shaq has made a three pointer. I'd like to see the video.

I just noticed, Ray Allen is very close to Reggie as the all time 3pt leader.

He needs 41 makes to be the all time made leader, and 142 to be the all time attempt leader.

So after 20 some games he'll become the all time leader.

kobe has already almost played as many games and minutes as jordan.

I think career total scoring is a gay stat cuz it tells more about a player's longevity than anything.

Career points average is better and Jordan's 30.1 is unreal considering his stint with the wizards and everything

very good point. a 6'8 250 pound man will not be able to fly forever. not to say he won't be good for a long time, but right now i can't really see lebron developing great, technically sound moves the way kobe has and jordan did
