It looks like Melo and Billups have already checked out mentally of the Hornets game.

Melo 0-2 FG in 16 minutes
Billups 0-5 FG in 18 minutes

Losing Billups would hurt quit dramatically. Also Favors would be considered a project for this summer.

Both Carmelo and Chauncey are playing like crap lol. Carmelo knows his agent is trying to swing a deal.

Agree they are both obviously over this game, but if they are told it might wait till the deadline then they both will still play well. Obvious they both know something is going down or was supposed to go down tonight. However wouldn't be surprising if Denver was bluffing to see where the offers are at.

Each time it appears a deal is close, Denver keep wanting more and more and/or make changes to the proposed deal.

    PEER PRESSURE! Haha

Another reason why I am happy the Rockets have a gm who makes an initial offer and doesn't budge until the deadline when the other team finally caves. Denver's negotiation skills are annoying. Draw up a fair deal and stick with it.

The Nets are reportedly now trying to find another home for Petro than Detroit to make the salaries work.

At least Denver is looking to get the best deal, and not settle on any deal.
They have a superstar most teams in the NBA want, so they have the prime spot right now. They should be looking to get the best deal they can get off NJ.
As the Rockets know, its not easy finding a superstar, so Denver will be trying to get one via draft(NJ draft pick) or Derick Favours(few years away).

Yes and also they want to milk as many wins as they can before the trade.

-update.. Melo just got booed pretty heavily by denver's fans when he checked back in the game.

They will lose today, and it seem's this might be he's last game with Denver, as he is playing like this is his last game....

If the deal falls through which at this point is very possible, he will show up and play as long as he has to.

@nuggetsnews Melo just said "I don't see it happening" in reference to the trade, but he wouldn't talk about timetable

    So the Nets land Melo+Hamilton+Billups+Carter?

BTW if you think about it, Hamilton and Billups passed their prime already and the Nets just lost 2 first round picks, Devin Harris and Favors. If they don't win it in the next 2-3 years, they are done.

Melo was 3-13 for 8 points and Billups finished with 12 points on 2-12 shooting, both seemed like they could care less and the fans booed Melo. This could be a very good thing for the Nets as it adds more pressure on the Nuggets' front office to get a deal done.

And Melo will move on to another team (NY) after his 3 year extension is up with the Nets.

    from denver post

One of the sources said that there have been some inquiries about involving the Houston Rockets into the trade. When the Nuggets played Anthony and Billups against New Orleans, instead of resting them, the source suggested it was a sign they weren't ready yet to make the trade Sunday.
