Cat: Part of the fun of this BBS is tracking the progress and development of the Rockets. When has there ever been a rule against rants? So we are upset with Collier because he had a bad first game. We are still entitled to say what we want about him. Maybe you should just chill for a bit, and if Collier does indeed blossom later on, you can come back with some major "I told you so". ------------------ I will demonstrate my clutchness this November.
I didn't say that any black player was better than any white player. What I tried to say was that anytime we can get a good player like Alexander we end up with Collier. Or when we could have gotten Rashard we get Bryce Drew and Mirsad Turkcan. It just always seems like Rudy selects no talent white guys over talented black guys. Maybe it's just a coincedence but I would rather have those 2 black players over the white ones we got. Now if we were selecting between Larry Bird and Alexander sure I gonna want the white guy. I'm sorry if I offended you, but most people would agree that in alot of the cases the black player is more athletic. Sometimes the white player will be better, but what I'm getting at is most of the time I would want a black player. Just look at the statistics and it shows up plain as day that blacks greatly outnumber whites. There must be a reason, or I guess it's just a coincedence. It's like this in most sports. There are like 95% whites in hockey. It's about 33% latin american, black, and white in baseball. It's about 65% black 35% white in football. There is no denying that the black athlete is more prevalent in sports but there is a place for other ethnicities. And the reason why I said Courtney "I'm not white" Alexander is because it always seems like Rudy goes for the white guy instead of the better player. He's probably not racist, but why does he always settle for less. Again, maybe it's a coincedence. ------------------
Regardless, The point of this post is valid. We need an inside force. Our front line is athletic, but not one...NOT ONE DAMN ONE of them has any type of post game. Everyone says KT has a chance, but to me he does not have the proper attitude to excel in the NBA. You need a HATE to lose attitude to be his size and excel. Marcus Fizer is all that and a bag of chips. I would trade Cato for him so fast it would make your head spin. DaDakota ------------------

Whether or not blacks are more athletic than whites had nothing to do with why Rudy drafts who he does. Rudy is coaching the US Olympic team, not the Arian Nationals. If you continue judging him for skipping Rashard then I'm afraid you will be horribly disappointed when the Rockets reach the promise land some day with a couple of white guys on the team. i'll probably kick myself for tossing my two abe lincolns into the fracas (then again, maybe not) but i'll hold my nose and jump into the deep end: soonerockstro,: some people would rather you just not bring race into this bbs at all. and really, i can understand their viewpoint. race is a topic most people don't care to talk about, for we all are "created equal". besides, it leans more towards socio-political topics than rockets topics. that said, though, if you think rudy bases your draft decisions on picking the white player over the black player, you've been hitting the pipe a wee bit too hard. rudy makes bad draft decisions, no doubt, as do many other coaches. but i would attribute it to overthinking a situation (read: outsmarting yourself). sometimes just taking the best available player is the best avenue to take (c. alexander). but even so, you might be wiser in waiting a few weeks after august the first before you crown him (yet again) as draft poop. as for the racial issues...well, honestly you are right. black athletes are genetically superior - physically - to white athletes. if you want to call me racist or stupid, fine. but do some research, or at least watch the discovery channel first. that said, it doesn't matter! winning is not about having the most athletic player, or for that matter the most athletic team. it's about having the team which executes the best. i'll end my post on this question: how many times in the last, let's say, two decades has the most athletic team won the nba championship? i can only think of one team - the lakers of the 80s. and they were matched eye for an eye by the least athletic team of the last two decades: the celtics. back to the drawing board.
