So much for the Michael Vick experience...results in a first round exit as always. Eagles fans gonna boo Akers for sure but how's Vick the future at age 30 and pretty banged up lately?
Great game! 3 out of 4 wild card contests this weekend were superb. Still very disappointed the Colts gave it up at the end. Vick was decent today but the Eagles needed more from him. The Packers should have won comfortably. They almost let it get away. I give the Packers a good chance in Atlanta and the Seahawks little chance in Chicago unless the Bears totally implode (which is possible).
Say what? Vick's future will be in Philly with a huge pay raise. The "Michael Vick experience" is far from over. No doubt about that. If the Eagles let Vick walk, their fans will burn down Lincoln Financial Field and never forgive them.
FAIL, Win, Win, FAIL So next week is Seahawks-Bears, Jets-Patriots, Ravens-Steelers, Packers-Falcons correct? Hmm..
I know. The Bears hit bottom in the Seahawks/Redskins games. That was a long time ago. At that point in the season, I didn't expect them to make the playoffs. Playing Seattle before will help them next week.
Of course, I was probably overreacting. 1. McCoy should have received 20-25 carries. 2. The Packers offense surprised the Eagles as they had an excellent running game. The Eagles defense was suspect anyway. 3. Vick hasn't really been impressive these past 6-7 weeks. It's almost like he regressed. 4. Akers deserves some blame but not all. 5. Reid deserves a lot of blame for decisions made.
How does that change what I said above? Vick is 30 and banged up for a guy who still relies to much on his feet to make a play. In the last month or so, defenses are now going after him and hitting him hard when he runs around in a scramble. I know Eagles fans will blame the offensive line and call for better protection but in fact most of the vicious hits have come when Vick has decided to leave the pocket. As a QB in this league, you can't go around playing like that giving defenders easy shots at you. Vick is a tough guy but he has been hoppled by these hits and struggles afterwards. The question is whether you want to heavily invest in a guy who is nearing that part of his career when his speed is bound to drop dramatically? I still say Eagles should franchise him and then see what happens next year. But I don't see Vick being a productive QB into his mid 30s.
You should actually be proud, man. That's just as hard, if not harder, to do than picking them all right.
I didn't change anything you said. Just answered your question, how's Vick the future at age 30 and pretty banged up lately? Depending on the new agreement, maybe the Eagles will end up franchising Vick. I doubt it.
Plenty of blame to go around for the Eagles. What will probably get lost is the fact that had Jones not dropped (what would have been) the 63-yard TD at the end of the first half, the game probably wouldn't have been nearly that close. Their D was getting picked apart in the first half.
We should play a game where you try as hard as you can to make the right picks, and then I'll just go to Vegas and fade you until I get rich.
I feel like this game was on coaching. The coaches didn't adjust to GB not blitzing them like they expected. They kept on throwing screen passes when they were not even blitzing them. Reid need to run the ball more and get the ball in Jackson's hands more. I don't think Akers should receive much blame kicking with all of that wind. That 2nd kick I felt like Philly should have went for it on 4th and 1.
