Why is that when he guards any big with any sort of a midrange shot, he doesn't come out to guard them? He just watches them shoot. This happens all the damn time. He doesn't close out his man at all even when they've been stroking it.

I know what you mean! That kind of defense should be his specialty since alot of bigs in Europe shoot the long ball.

because when he comes out an guard them, they pump fake and gets to the rim, or he gets stuck like glue and the guy just spins off of him

BTW both of these happened to him against Jazz

Scola is nice, but Patrick Patterson is ready to start.

I feel like the win now time has passed. Unless an opportunistic trade becomes available for Carmelo and Chris Paul its time to trade some vets for some good young prospects and start the developing.

PP is ready to start at PF, T-Will at SF and Lee at SG.

Trade whoever else for a good potential Center and lets start again.

he is a good player but damn his defense suck, I blame it on Rick when there is player like Millsap today who was on fire, you should take Scola out and but someone who can defend.

Scola has always been a defensive liability. He is overall a good player, but his complete lack of athleticsim drastically limits him on defense. Players like millsap are the ultimate weapon against scola because he can't keep up with them. The result is he has to pick between giving up the midrange shot, or trying to stay close and fouling or allowing a layup. To make matters worse, the only time I see him hustle on defense is when there is a chance to flop for a foul. Don't get me wrong, I like scola's skills as a post player and rebounder, but his defense can absolutely murder us when all of our other healthy front court player are liabilities as well. I also think that some of his rebounding numbers are inflated because he is so often drifting off his man, even when that man is taking a wide open jump shot.

i agree with you that we should rebuild. not just bring in more bandages to cover up our wounds that will not fix any long term problems.

but to fully rebuild you have to really strike gold to bring in a superstar to build around. Who do you feel that we can build around right now or in the up coming draft?

to be honest, we are probably gonna be in the early 10s for this year's draft. that will not bring you a franchise player. I worry we are gonna be like this for years to come.

With this league's half ass rules and Stern imposition do you think he is timid? Scola is making somewhat bank this year and given his background and what is construed as a flagrant foul or what not, I think the man is playing it too safe. Who wants to lose $2,000 or more for nothing? I hate NBA at this point. But.... I need my pro basketball fix that is bearable.

Well he makes up for it with being active on the boards on offense and his scoring. He also gets a ton of hustle points and creates second chance points.

Wrong! If yao was there, they would have put williams and jefferson or williams and okur in pnr and they would have gotten uncontested shots or layups. Once they turned the corner, guess who would have been protecting the rim? Scola. When you have no foootspeed or length on the frontline, it really hampers what you can do in pnr situations.

Scola is a one-way player. His speed and athletcism is poor and nothing can be done to change it.

If JVG was here though, I believe he would start Patterson over Scola for defensive purposes. JVG has shown that he will play a rookie(Hayes), if his defense is better than a vet. It still doesn't solve the problem at C with Hill and Miller, though.

if his opponent is shooting his opponent is not rebounding. We have a center and our other players should come in as well. Dont blame everything on that.

Cause he's in the paint waiting for the rebound to pad his stats that's why.
